How do I loosen my texture?

Hello everybody, I was wondering what are some ways I can loosen my curls. I have orientation tommorow and I just wanted to add some more length to my hair so I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks again,

You probably need to stretch your hair while drying. Try washing/wetting your hair tonight. Then put in 2 pigtails (sometimes I do 4). Take them out once they are dry and apply the products. This has been one of my techniques for about 2 years. and it works great.

Now that my hair is short. I slick my hair down with KCCC, then I fluf it out in the morning.

To change your texture to make it seem looser, you can roller set or try flat twists. This will not only change the appearance of your texture, it will also give the appearance of more length.

If you just want the appearance of more length, you can try the stretching "step" on dry hair which is one of the last steps in the shingle method here: http://missjessies.com/shingling101.htm
You'd style your hair as normal and after it's dry, stretch out the roots with heat to make it appear longer. I wouldn't use the heat too ofen though... just to be safe.

HTH!
mostly coarse texture, normal porosity... I think?

Hey, MRC, if I recall you mentioned you had similar texture to mine. if so, saturating and leaving in the conditioner after you wet/wash it has helped retain my length. in addition, roccmycurls suggested bantu knots for my coarser hair and it actually helped with length and fullness for my entire head.

for long term, you might want to invest in cassia or henna. it definitely has "stretched/elongated my curl pattern"... be careful though because I have heard a few people complain about not being able to wear wash n gos anymore as a result.

good luck tom.!

Oh yes the leave in conditioner definitley does help elongate my hair and my hair has grown pretty long so I wasnt worried about the length I just wanted the appearance of very loose curls thats all. My hair isnt really coarse except for in a few sections thats all. Hmmm henna...I hav had alot of people suggest that to me but I dont know not being able to wear wash n go's really doesnt sound good to me.
