Has anyone tried the "blue" Fantasia IC Gel w/Spar

Yesterday I used the Jamaican Cactus leave in and I used Fantasia IC over it. I parted my hair in four sections and combed the products thru. My curls were very defined, BUT I had the white stuff going on at the ends and my hair is STILL wet this morning! Do you have to use a diffuser with this combo of products or did I use WAY too much!?

My hair is medium thickness and is above shoulder length(unstretched) and I can get away with using a quarter sized glob(or less) per section. If I apply too much, I run the shower lighly over my hair for a few seconds. This helps distribute the product better, and thins it out if you applied too much.

And it does take a long time to dry. I recommend plopping and then using a diffuser to dry faster. If I'm air-drying, I have to do my hair in the morning so that it can be dry by the time I go to bed. I only do this when I know I'm not going anywhere. Otherwise, I have to walk around with wet hair all day.
A wonderful mix of coils, curls, corkscrews, and kinks.

If you only use a quarter size per section, I used WAY too much! I really laid it on thick. My hair is fine, but dense...above BSL but past shoulders (stretched) I'm going to try it again with less product and invest in a sock diffuser. I like the way my curls looked, but I have to refine my method. And I know since I'm only beginning to experiment, I'm probably not going to get it "right" the first few times! The shower rinse sounds like a good way to release extra product. Thank you for your help!

I usually section and apply gel to each section. Also brush it through with a denman. My hair is very thick. If I just put in on the top or try to finger comb it through, its pretty much like not using any gel at all.

My Sally's doesn't carry it and after talking with the manager, I found that they have no intention of carrying it in my store. At least, it wasn't on the memo from corporate.

So where are you ladies finding yours if you don't find it in Sally's?

The stores that have more customers who purchase ethnic hair products have a wider selection of items, so they stock the clear and the blue gel. You might want to call ahead to a particular CVS to see if they stock it to save yourself some time and gas.

Thanks! I'll check that out some time this weekend!

One more thing...

I'm on the Fantasia website and I only see the Pink Sparkelites. Is this the product you all are talking about?

I'm back again!

I just came back from walgreens. I see that the item I posted was not the gel. However, I found a "sample" of the gel attached to this serum. Since there were no Blue Fantasias on the shelves, I bought it the sample. I don't even use serum.

I hope I can find this around town. I'd hate to fall in love with this sample.

You're right. I found out that the product I posted is not the product discussed. Ironically though, the only place where I found the blue gel was attached as a sample to this serum.

Yes, my dumb butt bought the serum to get the tube of gel. Unfortunately, I'm in LOVE with this gel. Now I can't find it anywhere.

Will I go online and order it from Walgreens.com? The saga continues...

I went past the BSS while Xmas shopping today and ended up purchasing this gel because I was running low. It has a few more beneficial ingredients and seems to be thicker. I like the regular gel, but I think I'm going to like this one more because the thicker the gel, the clumpier my curls. Also, this particular gel is supposed to be "moisturizing" and the consistency does seem to feel this way. I know the regular gel didn't make this claim and wasn't particularly moisturizing, so we'll see.

Here are the ingredients so that you can compare.

Ingredients of Regular IC gel: Purified Water Aqua , Glycerin , Carbomer , Triethanolamine , Aloe Vera Gel , Dimethicone Copolyol , Tocopherol Acetate , Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein , Polysorbate-20 , Benzopehonoe-4 , Methylchloroisothiazolinone , Methylisothiazolinone , Disodium EDTA , Fragrance.

Ingredients of Blue gel: Purified Water, Glycerin, Triethanolamine, Carbomer, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Triticum Vulgar(Wheat) Protein, Silk Protein, Panthenol(Vit. B5) , Tocopherol Acetate(Vit. E), PEG-12 Dimethicone, Benzopehonoe-4, Disodium EDTA, Octoxynol-9, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Violet #2, Green #5, Fragrance.

The ingredients highlighted in red are the added ingredients not found in the original and those in blue aren't in the "blue" gel.

I'll give you an update sometime this week.

I use this gel and it works well for me. It gives me definition and it dries cruchy, too crunchy at times. It's better than the fantasia Ice pomade because it's not greasy like the pomade is, but the pomade gives great definition. I've tried the regular fantasia gel and it's great, but it'll leave little white bits in my hair when it's dry. I haven't tried the blue kind, but I will now!
