Default Using Condish as a Styling Aid (no more gel??)

Does anyone use conditioner only as a way to style their hair as a replacement for gel? Gel seem to make my hair feel dry no matter what I do. My goal is big, fat lush curls, instead of the many, tiny, multiple curls that I get now. I don't know what to do now. I'm happy to hear all recommendations!! My curls are mostly 3c with some 3B.

Default leave in

my routine is no poo, leave in, go. gels and most styling products pull the life from my hair. leave ins give just the right amount of moisture, without killing body/fullness. the ones i use are in the fotki. HTH

I get great curls with no gel. I think it's how I style the hair

After it gets wet and detangled, I section. Then take a small section and starting at the top, I smooth it to the bottom until all the rough parts are smmothed over and it looks like a fat wet ribbon, then i leave it alone. Continue with all the hair. It seems similar to shingling but with one step. If you go to the shingling site, that is how I do my fingers, like a pasta machine. I also add a little more leave in to help the hair form together. It only takes about 5 minutes. I get similar results using a paddle brush. HTH
