Dry, thick, coarse 3b hair LOVES BB Styling Lotion, JCS Nourish&Shine, Devacurl One C, Elucence MBC, BB Curl Cleansing Condish, Devacurl NoPoo, Honey, Water, and BB Natural Hair Oil.
Qhemet's Honeybrush Hair Tea Gel is a very good gel for dry hair. It is moisturizing and will give a soft hold to your hair. It is the only gel that I have ever purchased more than once, and the MSM that is in it is very beneficial for hair growth. Unfortunately, I don't use it anymore since I switched to using Curls products, but it is still a good product nonetheless!

Products in my current regime: Nioxin Scalp Therapy Shampoo, ORS Replenishing Pak, Curls Whipped Cream, Curls Souffle, Curls Spiral Curls Cream, Curls Milkshake, Curls Quenched, BB(Bonner Brothers) Growth Lotion
I love suave professionals volumizing, Biosilk Rock Hard Gel and Herbal essences Humidifying Gel.

I have discovered that a leave-in under gel works wonders.

I have hair like yours (I'm western european, latino, black and jewish) and when it was long I loved Biologe's Defining Elixir. It fought frizz and defined my curls without the "crunch" that most of us loathe. I also still use Phytodefrissant by Phyto. It's kind of pricey but it works so well, especially for ethnic hair. Some other products that have worked for me are: Frederik Fekkai Glossing Creme, Paul Mitchell sculpting foam, and Oscar Blandi's jasmine hair serum (it has cones in it, but for my hair, cones are necessary). I'm also using the leave-in conditioner by Mixed Chicks (it's sold here) and I like it so far. I think it's great that there are products for our hair type now. Growing up, I had to leave like a ton of conditioner in my hair and pommade to get it to look decent. Those days are thankful gone!
3b, and it's thick, coarse and big!
I used to love mousse before realizing how drying it was. My hair's fine and weighted down easily, so pommades were out of the question!

Hi ladies.

My hair is 3a/b when wet and 3b/c after it air dries (which is why I classify it as 3b/c), but my favorite gels are Biolage Gellee, the Suave knock of Biolage Gellee (firm hold, now discontinued), Fantasia IC (clear, in the jar), Devacurl Angell, Batia and Aleeza Biomineral and Aubrey Organics Mandarin Magic Hair Jelly. Those gels are a mix of firm, medium and soft hold - but all are moisturizing and worth the money.

Laurabeth has similar sounding hair as you, Resurrected, and did a mega study of hair gels, posting ingredients and reviews for dozens of gels. Maybe someone else can link it here in this thread for you.

Or you can try the search function to do greater research on prior gel posts here at NC.

Thanx everyone! I am going to do some more research before I make a purchase. I am confused when to use gel. Night or day and once or twice a day? Also, when I use gel and I scrunch it in, I really don't get curls. Am I doing it wrong or does the gel I use suck? It is a brand called aquelle and i got it from Sally's.

Hi!

I have coarse, thick 3b/c hair. I use Aussie's Dual Personality Leave-In/Volumizer as a leave-in and then on top of that I use Suave's Aloe Vera Gel.

I find that when I put the Aussie on soaking hair, let it settle in for a bit then scrunch in the Suave over that, I get good hair. I shower in the morning and don't reapply gel at night. I don't think my hair's long enough for 2nd day hair yet, so I style every day.
