Default Some precision about plopping

I use a microfiber towel to plop and I got nice results the first times I plopped.
But the last times I noticed that my roots on the front are nice, lifted from the scalp. But the problem concerns the roots around my line that parts my hair. It seems that plopping makes it flat and it goes in the "wrong direction" (if it makes sense to you... )
My second question: is it necessary to divide the hair in 2 sections to plop?
Do some of you use "modified plopping technique"?
