Doing Hair the Night Before

Anyone here do their hair the night before? What is your routine and how do you do your hair?

I prefer to cause my hair has gotten pretty long and takes forever to dry during the day. And then when it's dry, it takes another FOREVER for the crunchies to come out. I like to leave the house with dry hair.

So, I plop my hair the night before for 30 minutes, take down and let dry, before bed I use a hairtie to tie it to the top of my head to keep the curls from weighing down. This tends to be a hit or miss for me. Somedays I have a fabulous hair day, others I don't.

The main problem for me is that I get frizzies on the top and side of my head. How do I reduce these? Does anyone here have the same problem?

I usually prefer to do my hair routine at night, because I like my second day hair better than day 1 hair. After I "plop" in my towel. I just put my hair in a satin bonnet. That's my key for hairstyle longevity. I have a lot of hair too, so I kinda just stuff it in the bonnet. No pony tail. I take the bonnet off in the morning, shake my head a little bit and I'm on my way.

What kind of bonnet?

I've seen a shower-cap style satin bonnet at the drugstore that I may purchase.

Thanks.

I twist and curl the night before, and that lasts me for 3 days if I protect it at night.

My hair is still short so I'm doing my hair in singles braids (something like micros for a few months). I did run across a curly whose hair and regimen blew my mind, Chicoro. If you do a search for her on here or check for her fotki you can see how she does her hair at night, the process is quite brilliant and one that I plan to follow once my hair gets a bit longer. Good luck!

I'm getting closer to a regular evening routine. I used to just go to sleep on my satin pillowcase and that was it.

These days I might co-wash a few nights per week or do my DT. And most nights I will wet my hair with a spray bottle, detangle with a bit of conditioner, and put in my pocahontas braids.

The next day I undo my braids, add a little water and conditioner to my hands, fluff that mix through my hair and lay down the frizz on the crown. Done.

My staples: Mane n Tail (cowash), Garnier Fructis Sleek n Shine (leave in condish), Grapeseed oil or shea butter (sealing), Organic Root Stimulator Elasticitea (leave-in condish & light hold)
Lately I've been doing my hair more at night and while its usually not dry in the am, it beats walking out the house with a soaking wet head (which is what I used to do).

I cowash and detangle as usual and apply my products. I then take my hair and put in about 5 loose big twists. I keep the twists really loose so that ti doesn't strech out the curls...but keeps the hair from tangling up over night. I tie my head up with a scarf and then i'm off to bed. In the am, when I take down each section, I apply my gel, scrunch, and I'm done in about 5 min.

Currently using:

Poo: CON Sulfate Free poo
Rinse out: Tresemme Naturals
Leave-in: CJAOO Daily Cond
Styler: KCCC sparingly and Ampro Olive Oil Gel where needed
DT: KBB Lucious Locks Mask + EVOO/Avocado
When my hair was long, wash and goes were very rare, mostly because I preferred stretched curls. I would wash the day before, place my hair in a bun or 2 pigtails then remove and add product once dry. This was pretty much a winning routine. The only downside was the time it took my hair to dry (usually more than a day).

Now, I still wash at night most days, but when I dont I sit under the dryer for 15-20 minutes.

I just wash my hair once a week, but it's in the evening when I know I'm not going back out anywhere.I wash and condition, apply my leave-in,castor oil,and gel and the comb it and put it in a ponytail, braid it and bobbypin it to the top of my head.I sleep with a doorag and a satin cap.I pretty much don't have to fool with my hair until I decide to wash it which is 5-8 days.It stays moisturized from the castor oil all week.

Yep.. it's definitely about keeping it simple. I guess low manipulation and protecting your hair is just as much a part of gaining healthy and long hair as the products you use.
