Oooh, I like her hair cut.

We have totally different textures but I wonder if I can get my hair shaped similar to that. I guess I would have to use a brush to make my hair clump into waves instead of individual curls. Anyone know if this shape would work on my hair?

ETA: I showed my fiance the picture and he thought that she was me and asked me when did I have my hair that short.
My texture was like hers when it was short. I thought I'd have little curls but it wasn't the case. That's why I love her hair so much b/c it seems doable for me. I can't tell how your hair would work since I've not seen it up close. Also, if you never have had your hair really short, you may be surprised at how it comes out after the cut...Maybe you could brush the curls to clump like that.

And Cehua, if you look like her, you are a beautiful girl!

OOh, the baby is adorable wavezncurlz!!!! I kind of had that hair when I was her age, too!

Cehua - I agree - the girl in that pic is very pretty and I love the shininess of her hair. If you have those features, short hair would be stunning on you!

Question for the ladies here who have/had short hair - did you have any regrets when you cut it? I had it once and I had a lot of issues - but thinking back, I like it more now than I did then.....

Well, I have been cutting random pieces from the front and my hair curls up like Jazzijenni's. I am not sure about the top, sides and the back. They look different than the hair in the front. Still looking for pictures of the shape I want but I am almost 80% sure that I will cut it.

I think my fiance did not have his glasses on properly. LOL I have similar features as that model so I can see where he thought she was me, but I do not think I look like her. Guys are funny.

I remember a few years ago I saw a few model in Essence that had the hair shaped exactly how I wanted (face framing pieces) and they had a similar texture to my hair. Too bad I donated my old copies when I moved.

I had absolutely no regrets. It was very liberating, and since I was much thinner then, I looked great! Also, my curl was so much looser with a short cut, since my hair is more wavy with big curls on the top. So, my hair looked a lot different at the BC and short chic lengths. I really loved it! After I achieve BSL hair air dried, I will toy with the idea of cutting it all off again.

Cehua-

Gutsy move to cut of your hair girl! If you do it, post pictures! And the girl in that wavezncurlz picture is beautiful - you are lucky to look like that!

i didnt have any regrets at all, but it was hard getting used to how others treat you when you have short hair. it seems like hair length (along with texture, color, etc etc.) shouldnt matter but apparently it does. when my hair was its shortest i was damn near invisible to the opposite sex.

i loved the ease of short hair. plus my hair curled into perfect corckscrews. now ive got this stupid "s" shaped craziness... :x and like curltopia, my ultimate goal is to get to BSL (i dont care if its wet, dry, stiaght, curly!) and then im chopping it all off to go back to super short!

I also like the Eva cut Portae has in her yahoo album. That is a cute style.

Also, question for you people with short hair. How did you get it to look professional? I will be having a few interviews and usually I pull my hair back but am not sure how one would do this with short curly hair. I work in a primarily old boy's club field and have been wondering if short curly hair can look professional (I know this should not matter)?

I think my hair is like that. The pieces I cut short are cute and corkscrew-y but as my hair gets longer the curl pulls out.

You hair is beautiful, Subbrock.

I guess this is an add on to my previous question, but how did you change your look when you had short curly hair? I like to look conservative when I am around my professors and going to seminars.

I think that short curly hair can look even more professional because you don't have to worry about wildness of hair or whether you are having a good or bad hair day or what people will think of your curly hair and what they will say about it - with short hair, every day is a good, low stress, hassle free hair day. Also, with short hair, people will focus much more on your face and your body/what you are wearing and much less on your hair. So, if you dress appropriately and play down jewelry and make up (which I presume you already do now), you should look fine.

If men didn't have such a clear and strong preference for long hair, I bet that many more women would go short. I also think that very highly textured hair looks better short or medium length, although Midnite curls does have very beautiful long highly textured hair.

I agree with Curltopia. Short curly hair looks instatnly professional, put-together, and chic.

FME, shorter hair (neck length and above) is generally considered more professional than shoulder length hair and below. Shorter hair stereotypically connotes to people that this woman is about business--she is professional and committed to her craft as shown by the way it looks like she doesn't have a lot of time to spend fussing about with her long hair. I've been in the marketing profession for over ten years, and I don't often see long-haired women (in this geographical area) in fields like sales, marketing (not marketing communications), bus dev, channels, and senior level managerial positions.

Now, the two have nothing to do with each other--your hair length is not indicative of your professionalism or job performance. I've spent my entire career with below shoulder length hair (although I usually wore it up when I went to client meetings). BUT, yet and still, I do think that some people view a woman (in a business environment) with a chic, well maintained short crop (and attired in a feminine way) as more professional than a woman with a long, bed-head styled layered do.

Thanks, Curltopia, Portae, and Cheleigh. That makes me feel better. Fiance is coming around to the short look. I told him it is just hair. It grows back.

Curltopia, I wonder how many women would have long hair if men did not like it? A lot of women I talk to say that they keep their hair long for their bfs, husbands, etc. Longer hair is a lot of work for some people. But then again I have met people whose hair gets easier to care for after it grows beyond the shoulder. My fiance is not long hair obsessed like some guys I have met but he has made the comment that short hair can make some women look like boys. I told him I hope my body would say otherwise. LOL

BTW, have any of you seen the Olay ad with Gail O'Neill in it? I have been trying to find that picture.

Thanks Portae. And I also agree with Cheleigh.

Cehua-

Check out pictures of Sofia Loren, who has curves galore and wore her hair short and medium length for a long time. I know her hair is more 2b and not 3c, but she dispels this notion that only long hair is feminine or attractive. Jada Pinkett Smith is another example of feminine beauty at any hair length - in fact, she is so petite that short hair looks a lot better on her. Halle also has rocked all different lengths of hair.

Cehua-

I posted a pic of Gail O'Neil on the 3C pic thread. I think it's alittle longer than the commercial you're talking about(and I don't think the lady in that commercial is Gail, if I'm thinking the right commercial). Does the woman have on, I believe, a pastel colored tank dress? At any rate, here is the a pic:

That cut is super cute! I'd have to texturize to get mine to lay like that!

.

It is a print ad, not a commercial but I think she is in black. The ad may be old because the hair is short. *shrug*

You would think that one would find more than a few pictures of Gail O'Neill. She used to be a famous model.

I know what you're talking about now! I've seen the ad in Ebony and Essence magazine, and it is Gail. Her hair is shorter than the one I posted. If I remember correctly, she had a very cute haircut.

And I was surprised to see that I couldn't find any pics of her also. Maybe because she wasn't as mainstream as the Tyra's or Naomi's. I know she isn't "old", so there should be more photos of her online.
