just gel

Hello all,
I'm getting ready to cut off my relaxed hair and I was just thinking about using gel(proclaim clear ice) to gel my hair up and hold the curl. Do you think this would work? what other ideas does anyone have? This will be the first tme I've wore my natural hair without heat.

I don't know anything about the Proclaim Clear Ice. As long as it doesn't have alcohol in it it should be fine. It probably has no more hold than IC Fantasia, but I'm just speculating on that.

Hello,

Lately I have been using a dab of Long Ad Curl Activator with Aloe Vera and add a bit of Suave Healthy Curls mousse after that. Helps my curls remain frizz free.

thank you so much!
After I get my hair cut tomorrow I'm going to go buy some hair stuff for my new do! I'm just at the stage now where I'm worried about it looking bad or just crazy.

What results did you get?

Do a better job of covering your stinky aliass.
It's BEAUTIFUL ! I love it!
I used Cantu shampoo and conditionor, then I used Pantene prov intensive curl hydrating mask, then I used long aid activator gel with aloe vera and panthenol and additonal glycerin.
I love it, it's not quite dry yet, but it looks so pretty. I still have 3b c and 4a curls. I now have to wait for it to dry to see how it will look.

I also brought some smooth and shine curling mousse. i couldnt find the smooth n shine gel

I also brought some elasta QP feels like silk, I've used this before and I think it will work good on my hair.

Although I never used the curl mousse, I got a refund cause it had (and personally smelled strongly like) alcohol. I didn't wanna chance putting it into my own hair. You may get different results though, I dunno. I used the gel and the other Smooth N Shine mousse (alcohol free..not specifically for curls) together, and it made my hair look nice and bouncy with little shrinkage, however it didn't look as shiny when I used the gel alone (alot more shrinkage).
I"m still expireminting, I'm not sure exactly what I like best

By the way...I'm so glad to see another African American representing/mentioning their "Native American" heritage. I wish it could be done more cause, it's just a culture (red and black) that has totally went on deaf ears and denial in history books and not to mention old pseudo-westerns. High five! :P
oh for sure! black indians are real!
My fiance is a card carring black indian, even though he's also mixed with mexican, german, and brazilian- which consists of native south american, african, and portugese.
I'm trying to get my card so I can be 'offical', it's not that I care if the government recongnizes me, it's just i"m tired of people being so sarcastic like, yea EVERYBODY is mixed with native american. If I had my card I could just pull it out on them and what their faces say "oh...".

Not to mention if I had all that, I'd be able to learn more about the culture, which is sad that I dont know anything about it.

OMG You sound just like me! I want the card really badly as well, the problem is that my Grandmother doesn't even know where her own birth records are. She is Tsalagi/Cherokee, but doesn't have a card either. She figures, why should she go through so much to get a card from the "white" government to prove her own heritage.

Also, alot of Native Americans refused to be labeled as Native Americans in the early 1900s cause it was lower than being white and even black. So I dunno if maybe her parents shunned away from the label because of that and never signed gov't things like that.

Anyway, like you've stated, I'm tired of some of the negative responses that I get from people telling me to just choose one race and I'm sick of it. I think that card will put alot of my personal stress to the side for good. I'd be sooooo relieved. ALso, the card is a very crucial necessity when it comes to learning and fellowshipping (if that's a word) with other Natives, especially at gatherings, powwows, and other functions.

PLeeeeeeeeeeeeease, PM me when you get a chance so I can talk and ask questions pertaining to getting my CDIB card, cause there is far too much fraudulence out there.

My mother has her birth records, but both her parents are dead. She does have a book with all the family history in it, though. But I'm also apprehensive about going after a card as well. I don't want any money, I just want to learn more about my people too. PM me as well, if you find out about getting your card.

Sorry to jump in and change the post too Back to hair.

I'm a big fan of IT freeze gel, which you can by a Walgreens or Wal-Mart for about 3.99, but don't use too much, or it will get crunchy. Also Curlisto control II is great but cost like $28, but itís worth it for those special nights out.
