Chelsia, I'm not sure.. You're definitely a 3 but you might be a 3b? I'm no expert, though!

Oh, I just assumed you were before ledzeppole because your hair's so pretty! Hahaha.

Your pattern is pretty small & tight (jealous), which leans more towards 3B. They say 3a size is like sidewalk chalk; 3b like a "sharpie" marker. Yours might even be smaller!

I'm trying to get mine to shrink smaller, so that's a compliment!

I stand by your hair being gorgeous--it's thick and I actually like the curl formation. Then again, I haven't seen your hair from before, and now that I look more closely, it does seem a little dry. Whoops!

I personally had little success with the CG method, but whatuask, your hair is very pretty!
My 1st CG hair compliment! I'm glowing!
I absolutely HATE my hacked-thinned to death cut (I'm the one who asked for MORE thinning before knowing it's bad), but yes, the curls are starting to come out to play. Thank you!
I can't see yours-post a pic to show us yours!

I have major hair envy! I just started CG, what a great motivation to keep it up. My hair has already gotten much curlier since I started, I can't wait to see what I might have hidden under all this frizz, haha. I will post when I have a good hair day. You know how hard it is to find a good curly hair pic? I straighten my hair for every special occasion where there might be pictures, haha.

Hi Curly Girls,

I am not quite sure if I am a 3a, so your help is highly appreciated. This is more like a before pic when I was still using shampoo on a daily basis.

My problem is, that I love long hair and this makes my curls to kinda disappear I have heavy layers, but it didnt really help.

You are absolutely welcome! You've got perfect ringlets!

Ha - my mom just cut my hair a few hours ago, actually. As you can see in this video from a few days ago(="http://img190.imageshack.us/i/bof.mp4/"]), I had this hideous back layer of hair - it was dry and almost straight, just frizzy and awful. People have actually asked me if I had ever gotten hair extensions(!) because it didn't match the rest of my hair(curly) at all. I'm starting to think that I'm changing texture. It's all very weird.
ANYWAYS, I digress! My mom decided today she wanted to chop off the weird fluff in the back, and ended up chopping off a lot. I was worried it wouldn't work, but it turned out okay(http://img580.imageshack.us/i/z3o.mp4/). I think I maybe should get layers done..and while I do like the length, I'd like to try it a little shorter. She won't let that happen until I'm living on my own(not until September!)
Plus, it still looks dead and dry in the back. What's going on?!

Just searched around and found a pic from when I first joined the site: http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/8085/201002081.jpg

Many people said it was a mix of 2/3a. My curls were great back then, looking at that picture now. Dry, still, but better looking than now. What happened?! I did start going to a new hairdresser, which I regret now because my current one never seems to cut my curls right--always forgetting split ends and charging way too much. I don't know what I was thinking switching gals.

This is none of my business, but I really disagree with your comments. Ledzeppole has gorgeous curls. Very few women on these boards could pull off volume and defined coils like that with no product. If anything, the fact that her hair looks like that without her doing anything to it is a testament to how healthy her hair is.

I think it is technically 3a, but still way curlier than what many on the boards call 3a. I bet it would be 3b if she used a little gel.

You are in no way 3b - YET! But it's possible after months of going CG (not sure). It looks pretty dry & the 1/2 curls don't make the full spiral that they could.
I disagree w/ our friend who says your hair is gorgeous; it's only halfway there. I'd love to see it after months of CG!
Rock what you got girl! Stop using sulfate shampoo!
Do you blow dry? What's your climate? Your hair tells me low humidity-no?
I only have a couple weeks of CG experience, granted, but many lives of curly hair (anywhere from 2c-3b, depending on length & climate)
I attached a pic pre-cut & now. Good luck going from 'cool hair' to hair to envy. you seem to have enough personality to grow from honesty-don't be mad at me!

Sbudsky- I'm usually the devil's advocate. I'm just trying to encourage her to unleash curls-to-envy, b/c she's got the potential. You're right, w/o any product or much attention, that's nice hair. But shute, if I were her, I'd really appreciate someone telling me that they believed in my "curl potential" & not just flatter me b/c that's what we do on this site! (Like if i had 2a hair & i said it was 3c, would someone please just be honest?!)

shute ProctorSweetie- I can't pull up those videos from china. (happens all the time)
i was excited to watch. bummer, i'm bummed

however, i am so unbelievably amazed:
i just got back from Cambodia, which is SUPERSUPERSUPER hot & humid. PRE-CG, I would've been frizzin' BIG TIME, but with constant rewetting (mainly to cool off) & just a little CG product, i was sporting really cute ringlets. (pics to come from a team-mate who took them all)

i'd been explaining (it's like gospel to me now) the whole method to a new friend, & a day later, someone asked "is your hair Nat.curly?" we DIED laughing, & she said "let me get this one" & described the entire method. I told her anyone who listens that well to my CG stuff is a friend forEVER!

& 1 more tidbit. 1 of my students (this one a straight Korean) today actually said "you look like you have noodles on your head"! I'm not sure if she meant it well or not, but I'll take it as a compliment, choosing to think of curly noodles, not spaghetti! It was a "pack your pomade" day, so it was pretty curly. HA!

Ah, I'm sorry! I'll gather up some pics, but they might not show off my curls perfectly well. Hopefully you can get an idea from them, however!

God, you are just on a ROLL with your curls!! I'm so happy--I envy you tons. I was getting compliments for days when I got my best cut yet a few months ago. I was sporting soft, shiny curls and then..I don't know what happened. Maybe the gel dried them out. My hair also grows VERY quickly, and I don't know if this contributes to quicker split/dead ends. ??? I got a layer of wavy/dry hair in the back, and it just grew and grew, and my mom decided to chop it off almost a week ago.

Now, I'm at a huge loss. I was able to brush out my curls and straighten them a bit, having great waves for the first days after the cut. This morning, however, my hair lashed back and wouldn't behave--it refused the heat treatment and looked AWFUL. I showered quickly, b/c I still had to go to class, and nourished my curls with some Bumble&Bumble curl creme. However, my mom's cut isn't layered and looks so gross with curls--they were left stringy and just awful, so I ended up putting them into a bun and felt bland for the rest of my day.
I miss my long hair and I miss my healthy curls!!

Shute- proctorsweetie! I still can't see the photos. Sometimes half of all photos are blocked here - they must think you're dangerous-but i didn't say that...
anyway, I'm sorry for your hair crisis. You compliment mine, but the thinned out cut by someone who knows next to nothing about curly hair (chinese are NOT CG's!) is NOT working for me these days! I have continually gotten it cut to fix bad cuts, but this time I'm waiting for a CG-recommended stylist this summer! Only 2 more months!

Hi everyone! You all have BEAUTIFUL HAIR! I am in awe!

I'm new to the board, but I've been lurking on the site for a while.
Here is my hair after being one week CG. These were taken on day one and day two right after waking up, without even fussing with my hair. I can't even imagine what it's going to look like after a month, etc!

wow- you're right- keep posting as you get curlier!

you must've had pretty healthy hair if that's only a couple days of CG.

congrats newbie

To everyone: You see, my hair looks incredibly close to MimsTX's. I started CG awhile ago, somewhat on and off. On a good day, and quite by chance.. my hair looked like hers does in the photo. But then i went to sleep and the next day it was gone. Ever since I blow-dried my hair I haven't been able to get my curl pattern back. But i know that I am a 2c/3a curlie, the curls just need coaxing, and their resisting my attempts at coaxing them. Could all of you beautiful curlies help me?
Ack, sorry, just now seeing this. First off, thanks

Secondly... I really don't get reliably good 2nd day hair either. I could probably kill myself trying and manage it, but it's just not worth the time/energy to me these days. So maybe don't worry so much about keeping it looking awesome from day to day, bc I think our curl type is loose enough that it just doesn't hold up that well when layed on like that.

If i want a consistent result from one day to another, i have to re-style and AAAAAALWAYS diffuse dry. It's the only way I've found that i can get nice ringlets and volume. Air dying means my hair is plastered to my head :/ blech.

Here's mine! How do y'all make your hair look good in ponytails and messy buns? My curls just look horrible when i put them up!!! I start nursing school in the fall and my hair is too long to be allowed to wear it down for clinicals, any tips?

Thanks and God Bless

Default Do I belong here??

I have been trying to figure it out! Here are some recent pics after doing more curl friendly things (t-shirts to dry and bought a slew of products from curlmart)

And just starting to implement a few new things (March):

and this was my hair in Feb.

Please share with me your wisdom!

You look like a mix to me, but I'm inexperienced.

After re-going CG today: (I had to stop due to pressure from straightie family members!)

Oh, and before I even knew what the heck a curly girl is.

Ignore my seventh-grader self-taken picture face. I thought I was too cool for humanity. Pay close attention to the hot mess on my head, however.
