Default What hair type am I???

Okay....I need help figure out what hair type I am. I thought I was a 3a, but I have wavy hair a lot too being as it is getting longer. These pictures are from today right after a coconut oil treatment left on for 24 hours. It made my curls bounce back big time after a bad winter dryness period!! So, am I a 3a or what?

I am a newbie, so I am just getting started on here. I just did a pure virgin coconut oil treatment on my hair, and it looks great!!

The main problem I am having on here is trying to determine my hair type. Looks like 3a, but it can be just wavy at times too being as it is getting longer.

Don't understand some of the short terms on here. Figure out what CG meant though! LOL!

Looking forward to making some new curly girl friends on here!

Default Can't get big picture on here!

ledzeppole...how did you attach such a picture picture of yourself on here? I couldn't get it to do that. The first time it said my pictures were to big, then I played around and now they are small thumbnails.

Hm...after looking at these, I'm starting to wonder if I'm a 3a, also. Except that my hair gets more curly as it gets shorter. Here's a couple pics of my hair on a GREAT hair day...

And here's one on a bad hair day (today- rainy and cold out, plus I didn't put any gel in my hair), after I got my hair cut, in worse lighting than the first two.

I also had a different hair care system in the first two and the third pictures. I've been trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong for the longest time, and hopefully I can figure it out on this forum!

TRYING to grow it out- maybe softer water and going almost strictly CG will help!

strange question, then...

Do you have hard water? I'm trying to figure out what makes my hair feel so gross and dirty after a couple of days, even if I don't use gel, and someone on the 3B forum said that it's probably because I have hard water.

I don't anymore, but when I was living with my parents we had VERY hard well water. It has so much rust and iron in it that it smells like blood if it isn't filtered 15 times first. Hopefully yours isn't that bad. But a good way to find out is to go buy a jug of store brand filtered water (like in the milk jug type of containers) and wash/rinse with that to see if your hair comes out any better. Also, using an ACV rinse every week if your hair can handle it will help get the deposits out.

You might also be using too much product, do you use a leave in?

Do I belong here? lol I was told by someone else that I was a 2/3a, so I just want an opinion from this board (and I might check out the 2's board too) to see if that's accurate.
And the back would be more 2ish and the front more spirally, I think.

Thanks! :]

Personally, based on those small pictures, I think you're a 2A or 2B. I think it helps to think of 2 as S-shaped waves and 3 as actual distinctly round, loopy ringlets. 4's are significantly tighter coils. Just my opinion though, it's not like this stuff is hard science

Okee, thanks.
The thing is, in the front I do have some complete ringlet spirals? Maybe they aren't too visible in that picture.
Out of curiousity, does this one help, or am I mistaking the s waves (just a little confused hehe)?

Sorry for the dumb smile. lol
I actually wouldn't mind being a 2 though... Neat-o.
Thanks for all the help!

To me, your hair looks 3A in the front and 2B in the back. Depending on what products you use, you could probably go either way. That's how my hair is as well. With good curl enhancers and humid conditions, it's very 3A curly. In the winter, it's much more wavy unless I use strong curl enhancers with a hard-hold gel.

I just wanted to say. My hair looks almost exact to yours. I've never seen that before. So I was excited.

And to the person asking about Curls Rock Amplifer. I used it everyday last summer and fall. My hair LOVED it I never had a bad hair day and I couldn't stop using it. It made my hair look perfect. And as a tip all you need is a pea drop size. My hair was fairly long at the time. Past my shoulder but not bra strap length yet. Its really rich. The first time I used, it I used to two big pumps and my hair was really heavy. But if you just use a small amount and dilute it in water. A little bit goes a long way. I think my one small bottle lasted most of the year.

Even though I loved the stuff, I stopped because I went GC. I was super sad and haven't found a similar product that is GC yet.
