It appears there may be a "Celtic connection" when it comes to curls too. I'm seeing alot of Irish/Scot/Welsh curlies here too (like me!)

Nope, I am definitely white! LOL I can't even get a tan very well haha! And I am a very tight 3b, or a looser 3c so I have to disagree!

I'm also mixed... Half Belgian/half Congolese (black and white).
I also thought that mostly mixed girls were curly, but I see (via this forum) that is not the case at all

Yes and No
Shiri, I think there is definitely something to what you're suggesting.
However, we need to keep in mind that the world has been mixing for thousands of years and continues to do so. Terms like "White", "Puerto Rican", "Black", "Mixed", etc are modern terms but we are not divorced from our histories.

I completely agree. I have nothing against people who use those terms to describe their ethnicity, but I sort of believe we are all mixed in some way. I am from Australia and my whole entire family is from Australia but i consider myself mixed because I know that way back centuries or even thousands of yrs ago there were connections with different countries and ethnicities, as with everyone, even though my most recent background is aussie
Sorry for major guano but I had to say it LOL

Nope, not me. I'm Indian and I have no idea where my curly hair came from because all of the relatives I know have pin straight hair!

White Girl
My father is super white guy, 6'6" freckles and super dark brown CURLY 3b/3c hair. He is of Welsh descent. So, I am Welsh/English and 1/4 sicilian. But my curlies are from the Welsh side, the sicilian side have slight waves.
I am seeing a common celtic thread... or two.

Well, I'm Jewish, so I fit that mold. But I know a lot of Jews that don't.
I am seeing an interesting trend, though- a lot of people of Irish/Scots/English/Welsh descent with 3b hair have spoken up. It makes me wonder which group of raiders had the curly gene (goths, visigoths, vikings, saxons, normans, etc...).

TRYING to grow it out- maybe softer water and going almost strictly CG will help!

I agree. I think many of us, especially Americans, don't have our full family history. My family says we are Irish, German and Norwegian... however, my guess is the mix is more than those 3.

I'm half Native American (Lakota Sioux) and half Romany (Romanian Gypsy). I am the only person on either side of my family to have curly hair that anyone knows of. I don't think it's the mix because my brother has straight black hair and my sister has very dark brown 2a hair.
I can see the 'Celtic Connection' - My husband is Celtic (Irish) and his whole family has red or dark brown curly hair.
