Unhappy ARG! My curls keep falling!

I don't know what I am doing wrong! I mean, I know I have really fine hair but I use a good bit of gel and it still wont hold! Last night I did the plunking method and it worked really nice but now that its completly dry the curls have fallen....What did I do wrong? What can I do?! Sorry...I'm just a little frustrated.

What kind of gel are you using? I'm a Georgia girl, too, and I like either Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee or LA Looks Sports Gel for hold over whatever curl enhancing product(s) I use: KCCC, AOMM, pink Boot's, CJAFG, etc. They're both hard-hold gels, so you'll definitely have some crunch to scrunch out, but without them I have to resort to hairspray and its alcohol. Occasionally I still do even with the gel.

I agree with AuntNett. To keep my 3A curls from collapsing, I rake in a leave-in for moisture and then apply BOTH a curl enhancing cream AND a hard-hold gel for hold. My two favorite gels are BRHG and Abba firm hold.

Default Sorry to take so long to post.

Auntnett, you use all of those at one time or just one at a time? I like it when I can scrunch out the crunch. My hair tends to hold better. Do I use more product or just a little. Do a leave in condtioner before? Sorry, I really appreciate you girls! Auntnett understands this Georgia weather. It's hard to keep good hair when you can't even keep good weather. Just let me know and I will reply ASAP. Thank you girls soooo much!!!! I love this site! It's so good for advice!

I do the same. Rinse out conditioner, leave in, curl creme, gel mixed with harder hold gel or curl serum.

When my curls start dropping I know I need a Komaza HoneyComb treatment to perk them up and make them easier to manage. I just started the Morrocco Method and for two weeks now I have not had to worry about my curls dropping or limp hair.

I actually got the giovanni protein conditioner treatment last night and it was wonderful! My hair is so much better, and I also went with a mousse that I used to use that works really good for my hair. My hair is much better now! Thanks for all the help girls! I think my hair just really likes protein. YAY!! No more limp curls!

You might like the Abba firm hold gel. It has a lot of protein in it and leaves hair soft once you SOTC.

Sorry, I overlooked your question. All of this gives me the best chance of it staying put:
  • I almost always start with 2-3 pumps of AVG on soaking wet hair right out of the shower.
  • Then my leave-in if I'm using one that day - I don't always.
  • Then I follow with a curl enhancing product like pink Boot's, KCCC, AO Mandarin Magic, DM Honey Jelly or CJ Aloe Fix Gel (sometimes a little of a couple together) - the last is not a true gel
  • Then I top it all with a hard-hold gel
Even with all this, it's not hard or crunchy once I scrunch it out. If I use the gel alone with neither a leave-in or an enhancer under it, it can be impossible to scrunch - like a plastic helmet.
