Help me find a salon in NYC!

Hi Ladies!

I haven't been on here in such a long time -- definitely have to update my picture! Anywho, I am turning the big 2-5 this year (I can't believe it!) and want to look, rightfully so, twentyfabulous on my special day. I haven't had a trim in a while and would like some color, but don't know where to go! I've heard that Aveda does well with curly hair but can anyone personally recommend a salon (Aveda or otherwise)? I have 3c curls that curl very tightly so I need someone that will know what they are doing. It's my special day so I want to pamper myself (and my hair!) with the best out there (i.e. NOT Miss Jessie's...)

Thanks in advance, ladies!!

i had a great experience at the ouidad salon in manhattan. didnt have color, just a cut/style, but i would trust them with color as well.
Thanks, Subbrock! I've heard good things about Ouidad too! Anyone with 3c/4a hair gone to Devachan?

I loved it but be warned it was very pricey so that visit wont be happening again any time soon. First you have to go in for a consultation which is free and then you set the appointment for the service.
Hey Morena! This is actually my first post here and I thought I'd chime in seeing how I was also searching for a salon a few days ago! I did my research and decided to set an appt with Tameeka at Christo 5th Ave. She has amazing reviews unlike other well known salons that cater to our hair type (3c/4a) and they are not as expensive as Ouidad. I also like the fact that prices are listed on their website at www.curlisto.com. Tameeka caters to all hair types including African American natural hair like my own. I was considering going to Tendrils in Brooklyn for the same cut and style but their reviews have not been as solid as Tameeka's. I met with her for a brief consultation and she is great!!! She definitely put me at ease (its my first cut since going natural 3 years ago) and its a lovely setting. I have my appointment soon and will tell you how it goes but definitely consider Tameeka at Curlisto's before you make a final decision! And read her reviews online; all have been positive. Good luck!!!
Hi- Actually I go to Devachan... I recently (last thursday) went and got the big chop done. I love love love it there. I would totally recommend it to anyone. It is expensive, but I think worth it.
Curly hair is FIERCE!
I did the BC: 6.25.09!
Remember to love and respect your hair!
