I was just pondering trying it to lock in even more moisture but am wary of the feel of pomades on hair.

I use shea butter as a pomade/sealer. I also liked FX Molding Wax but I don't really use that as much as shea butter. Most pomades (I'm thinking you mean "hair grease"?) have petrochemicals in them so I don't use them.

Are pomades for more kinkier hair types? I don't understand their use but I see it all the time displayed for the use of kinky hair.

As for your question my answer is I don't know, but I don't think that matters.. It depends on how you use it. When I apply my shea I use it on the ends for sealing. How are you thinking of using pomade?

My mother who has stick straight hair that doesn't hold a curl uses "hair grease" to keep her flyaways down. I'm trying to get her to use shea butter instead.

When I had a relaxer I typically didn't wear my hair straight and wore it curly (looks the same as it does now natural) and I used Paul Mitchell's Foaming Pommade at the time. I loved it. Then I started wearing it straight so I stopped using it. Not sure how it would be considered a "hair grease." I always assumed it was something non-black people used. I never new anyone outside myself at the time that used it that was a person of color! My brother and mom still use it. She is 2a/2b and he is mostly 3a w/ a little 3b.

I use the John Masters Hair Pomade in combination with plain old jojoba butter as a sealer. I've been using it for about two months. The last week or so has been the first real test, as the dew points have been quite high, and so far, so good.

See im the complete opposite when my hair was relaxed i wore it straight i always used pomade. My aunt is a hair dresser and pomade was her main product when she finished off our hair. I went natural and it stopped working for me, even now i cant use it when my hair is straight because it wets my hair too much causing it to curl. Never met anyone with natural or curly hair that used it.

I been using Kinky Curly Gloss Pomade for a couple of weeks now and I love it. It seems to work well for my transitioning hair and gives my hair a light shine without being greasy.
