Natural Products & Swimming Daily

As much as I love using natural products on my bi-racial 3C daughter's hair; they really do not work well with protecting her hair now that she has been swimming everyday at camp. She is 6 years old.

I used Knot Today, KBB and Giovanni products with limited success. They work well when she is not swimming, but with daily swimming I am finding "CONES" to be her best defense. I have used products from Teri's biracialhair/tightlycurly site and they seem to be able to deal with the protecting and moisturizing her hair much better.

Today I discovered Ellin Lavar's ReconstructMasque as a conditioner wash and then went the None of Your Frizness as a "comb out" conditioner and it worked wonders on her hair. Detangled like a charm and moisturized beyond belief.

I would love to hear other people's experiences with using natural and/or cone free products when swimming in a chlorinated pool daily. Or, if you are using regular old cone stuff to deal with swimming pool hair.
I Seem To Have The Same Trouble. I Normally Use Aubrey Organics And Knot Today Conditioner To Cowash But Since I've Been Swimming Twice A Week, I Have To Change My Routine A Bit. Swim Days- I Apply Cantu Shea Butter Conditioner Before I Swim And Usually Rinse With Hello Hydrations Moisutrizing Conditioner which has cones (i think- the bottle is not in front of me). Non Swim Days- Aubreys Organics/knot Today.i'm not sure if the cones help or not but i have noticed my hair is much softer and detangles better. Hope This Helps!

I've Been Meaning To Try Aubrey Organic Swimmer Conditioner. If So, Post A Reply!
I will try that out as well. My daughter's camp is over in a few weeks. Someone reccommended doing this coconut extreme conditioner with unrefined coconut oil, creme of coconut and yogurt once a week until she finishes her swimming lessons.

We have been wetting and loading her hair with conditioner in the morning. She rinses her hair at the camp after swimming and applies conditioner and then I rinse and condition with the "cone" conditioner.
ao's swimmers co does nothing special imo but i swim without cones with no probs i just add lemon juice to my co-wash and dc more often....i also load my hair with a thick condish b4 hopping in

Your hair is GORGEOUS!!

Do you deep condition once, twice or three times a week while you are swimming?

Last night, I did a this yogurt, creme of coconut and unrefined coconut DEEP conditioner on her hair and I cannot tell you how FABULOUSLY moisturizing it was on her hair. I think I am going to do this once a week until her swimming camp is over.

We have been using the Gionvanni and I put some of that in her hair this morning, along wth some KBB hair butter to seal.

I have a house full of curly swimmers. I'm a 3(c), my lil guy is a 3(b) and my older son is a 3(a). I have long haired boys ( something that will change this weekend I hope). We all use lots and lots of Coconut oil and I also use Amla oil before and aft swimming. I mix a bit of shampoo in the conditioner to get the chlorine completely out. I use tons and tons of Hello Hydration as a leave-in or Dangerously straight ( for my big son it works better). I used to have brittle dry hair before this routine----now we are all very soft and healthy.
I've been swimming a lot lately and I've been using cheapie conditioners (Suave and leftover Vo5) that I've been using before hand. I don't use cones. I also use quite a bit of product when I style my hair (twists, puff, whatever) so I think that helps too.

I've been doing this several months and my hair does not appear to have suffered any damage.

I use the swimmer's shampoo from AO afterwards usually.

I use cone free products without any problems. However, I do Cassia/Henna treatments and I believe that is one of the reasons I have been ok. I can swim and when I get out the pool and take down my ponytail my hair is still soft and tangle free. I am truly amazed!!

Thanks so much! I tell you that coconut oil, coconut creme concentrate/yogurt conditioner really has done great things for her hair with the swimming. My "forgetful" husband forget to rinse her hair yesterday and I ended up washing it this evening with KBB herbal shampoo and then I conditioned it with Aussie moist and it was very well moisturzed and easy to finger comb. There is something to this coconut
You hair is beautiful. We are using the Giovanni and wetting it before she goes to camp and she keeps the Knot Today in her bag and knows to use it after she rinses off.
You hair is gorgeous! I will wait until she is older with the Henna Treatment. But, I do like the yogurt, coconut creme concentrate and yogurt deep condition. Once swimming is over, I think I will use GREEK yogurt (high protein content) and see what happens.

Also, I wasn't suggesting to use Henna on your daughters hair!! I was just providing info regarding my own hair as you asked for different people experiences! My hair could be soft because I went CG, or because on those days I do the conditioner only method or because of Cassia and Henna or a combination of all. Who knows. I've never had soft hair before after swimming. But, I had never done any of those things before.
