I don't know about you ladies, but my hair loves salt water, and I love the way my hair looks after a day at the beach. But to get this look without going to the beach I finally figured out a way to get it to look like I did.

1. Co-wash like normal, finger comb, and rinse out.

2. Add a tablespoon of condish to the ends and maybe the roots for slip after rinsing.

3. On dripping wet hair add shea butter to the ends. You can wring out much of the water while you do this. Try to squeeze out the excess water and not run your fingers through too much here.

4. Air dry.

I did this yesterday and today and I have beach hair and I'm so happy. Also my hair dried pretty fast.. I was soaked at 7:30 am and by 10 I was 100% dry.

so moisturizing the ends is the key to that carefree look...hmmm...I'll try that soon.

I use products on 90% dry hair.
Wash: Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castille Soap.
Conditioner: Tigi Bedhead Moisture Maniac/Suave Humectants
Moisturizers: Long Aid
Styler: Ecostyler Clear/ Vitamin E Oil

Exactly. This gets the ends to clump/curl together while the roots stay more fluffy and voluminous. You can moisturize upto about halfway up the length. Once it's all dry you can separate individual curls, fluff your roots more, and voila.. beach hair.

P.S. I tried this method yesterday with some salt/tap water sprayed in also. It still worked but I did have a few lil salt crusties at the ends of my hair in some places. I don't think the salt water mix did anything extra special for my homemade beach hair.

Thanks for sharing! I wonder why hair seems to like salt like that? I haven't been in the ocean since having my natural hair - I wonder how it would react...hmmm, very interesting.

Right? It seems counterintuitive since salt is very drying on skin, but not to mislead anyone, my hair was not soft. It was fluffy, defined, and somewhat dry, but tolerably so- i.e. it was still touchable.

If you get a chance to hit the beach let us know how your hair does.

Also another tip on this style would be to pick out your roots to get even more volume. If it's too fluffy just wet hands with water and go over the excess fluff.
