Combing vs Brushing...

I'm interested in knowing the different results when styling your curls with a wide tooth comb to detangle or using a brush...after wash/condish? I'm open to learn if one or the other is more damaging to the hair or not!? Please share your knowledge...

I use a detangling tool called a KombBrush now. I don't own any more combs or brushes. The KombBrush is a comb and brush combined together. Here's the website for it: www.kakakiki.com

Combs take too long for me to effectively detangle my long curly hair with, and brushes just aren't the most gentle approach for my hair, but they did cut down on my detangling time, though. So I opted for a gentle, but effective approach to detangling my curls, and I saw that the KombBrush was the way to go.

Thanks alot SYB! I'm gonna visit that website today for that kombBrush today. I've also been told about a denman brush to detangle too, are they similiar to the kombBrush? Just wondering...but thanks so much for your response, again!!

I used to use a Denman No. 3 Brush alot to detangle my hair with. But, Denman No. 4 seems to be the most popular and well liked one out of all the Denman brushes. Well, I liked the way that it would detangle my hair really well, but it would pull at my hair too much. So I switched to something that is more gentler, the KombBrush. The KombBrush was made specifically for Black people's hair(adults & children), but people of all races are using it too and really loving it!

Oh, okay! So there are numbers for the Denman brushes?! I didn't know that, but Iwent ahead and ordered my KombBrush yesterday after visiting the website. Since the Denman No. 4 brush is so popular with many curlies out there, I wonder what it looks like as far which bristles are found in it, (e.g. boar or plastic or maybe nylon)? Do you have any photos of your hair, so that maybe I could compare the hair texture with mine, regarding how the Denman No. 4 would pull at your hair and all. If not it's okay
