Length vs. Curl Definition

Ok, now since Iíve used Curls Milkshake and combed the product through my hair (I didnít know I had to do that which is one of the reasons why I flat iron my hair because it was tangled) I now have length but Iíve lost some curl definition (and some of my ends are straight) so I had wet my hair again using hot water to revive the curls (using a flat iron my hair reaches the middle of my back). But I feel like Iím doing my twice.

With Curls Milkshake I definitely do get more of a smoother look to my curls. But they don't bcome straight like you've experienced. You could scrunch some gel into your hair over the Curls Milkshake to give your curls more definition afterwards instead of having to re-wet it. And as far as the lint problem, I have never experienced that before.

You can use the Milkshake 2 ways: as a leave-in moisturizer or styling lotion. So if it doesn't work one way the 1st time, then by all means switch the way that you use it the next time around.

The comb might be the culprit in terms of straightening part of your hair out. Have you tried finger-smoothing it through section by section, then shaking the part you just applied it to (from the hair end) to encourage the curl?

Hear that crash? It's me falling off the CG wagon.
Your years of flatironing is what gives you straight ends. The straight ends are the damaged hair that is too weak to revert back to your curls. The curls milkshake may just pull out the curl in your ends even more so you notice it. I suggest you lay offthe iron and trim then deep condish alot.
i think i may have found my HG. Its suave firm control gel the biloge not off and john fridia curls and swirls i am sooooooooooo happy my search is over
That's what I thought about the flat iron. I'm disgruntled but hopeful. I'm weaning away from the flat iron.
I will try using my fingers on the ends.
What deep conditioner do you ladies use?
Thanks a lot!

I get excellent curl results from Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask (sold at most drug stores).
Hair Type 3C-4A

What you see is what you get because I'm not pressed to lye.
Thanks Nisey121. I'll get that today!

actually that ntm hair mask did nothing for me, it actually made my hair dry. it was so disappointing because so many people liked it. so if that doesn't work, don't fret. it's all about finding the right product for your hair here.

i have to agree with the other ladies that said gel would help to revive your curls and that combing the product through may affect curl definition. i also wanted to say that you shouldn't use hot water on your hair, it dries it out. try using warm to cool water instead. also, maybe you're using too much milkshake and it's weighing down the curl. how much are you using?

The 1st time I tried it I used a lot; really saturating my hair. It felt great but it there was no curl definition. The 2nd time I used very little. I think I will try it again without the "let's jam" but adding PM the conditioner.

I will also try warm water instead of using hot water on my hair. Cold water kills my curls.

What are your thoughts on "Kinky Curly" products like "Knot Today and the Kinky Curly custard"? I went to their website but I didn't see any pics of ladies who have tired their products.

Thanks!!
