Default I find it soooo irritating...

that 3a hair takes so long to be curly because it gets curlier as it gets longer. Because I know I'm a 3a, yet right now only some pieces are 3a while many others are 2c b/c my hair is just too short to curl the way that it is meant to! I really hope my hair starts growing so I can look at my hair being curly like it used to be!! ~~jax

I feel your pain

There have been many threads on how to grow hair faster, maybe try a search.
The thing with curly hair-its growing-but the growth dont show as much because of our texture
With straight hair my hair is BSL, but curly, to my collarbone.
Hang in there, Jaxie!! It will grow!!

Well good thing hair grows at least! You'll get there. I'm growing out my hair too.
I take gnc's nourishair and evening primrose oil. My hair grew an inch this past month which for me is a huge difference!

From your pics you're well on your way, you're hair length is looking good and curlier too!

I've started taking those vitamins too! Plus a host of others in a thread I saw somewhere on one of these boards. Its been about 3 weeks since I started all of these. Before that I was just taking biotin and a small amount of silica. I'm hoping it will speed up the process! ~~jax

I feel your pain as well! I started taking all those vitamins last month. My hair is curlier than it was a few months ago at least. Wow you hair has grown a lot since your May pictures! ((hugs))

I'm taking vitamins too! I'm trying to grow out some hideously uneven layers that I got back in May. It's not going fast enough!

Dumbelina: that's what I'm doing , growing out horrible uneven layers. I wish it would grow at the speed of light but twice as fast I'll take. I hope time flies on your growout

Jaxie: I saw the lhc thread with more supps in them but I picked the two she said was most important I think. I need to go back and see if I should add more in. Do you take the whole suggested amount of supps?

Well darn, I wanna take vitamins too! I had bad layers (at my request, not my stylists) but when I decided to grow them out I just got them chopped as closest to the same length as I could. I'm not in too much of a rush for my hair to grow (although I am growing it out) because I know when I get to my desired length I'll be tempted to cut it again! So I'll just try to enjoy different lengths along the way.

I'm just happy that the sides of my hair are finally long enough to pull back without needing a stinking bobbypin!

Yep Jaxie...the 3A part of my hair is getting curlier and curlier the longer it gets!

For the last three weeks this is what I have been taking:
1 Women's One a day
1 500 mg tablet of Silica
1 1000 mg tablet of MSM (apparently increases the length hair will grow to)
1 500 mg Evening Primrose oil softgel capsule
1 500 mg FlaxSeed Oil softgel capsule
2 600 mcg Biotin tablets
2 GNC NourishHair Tablets
2 Calcium Chews (But that's really for the Calcium not my hair)

It's a little different than the LHC thread and I don't take the protein shake b/c I read the most people get more protein than they need already, and I definitely think I do!
It seems like a lot to take but really I swallow all the pills with water in a total of 3 separate gulps.

You'll have to let us know if you see a change in how much your hair grows.
I've been taking supps for one thing or another for a long time so I'm used to the pills. I tell myself it's a bit of cake going down. That does the trick

Interesting..I see you take 2 of the biotin and the GNC NourishHair. I take all the same vitamins as you(except for the calcium, but I get plenty of calcium in my diet) but I only take one of each. Does it seem like you get faster growth taking two of each?

I actually do feel like it has really helped growth, b/c I was only taking one of the biotin before and no GNC NourishHair. But since I started 2 of each it really seems to have helped. Within the last few weeks I feel like there is more hair to deal with. ~~jax

That's great! Thanks for the quick reply too. I got .5 inch of growth last month, which isn't great for me, so now I'm going to try taking two of each and see if it helps. I also shed more than normal so I'm thinking it can't hurt to give it a try. Thanks!

I shed more than normal to! Just recently I posted about that. B/c I shed more than anyone I know. Even the rest of my family, who all have curly hair! ~~jax

oooh, I so feel your pain, Jaxie. We, in fact we are nearly hair twins. I've been growing out a too short cut since April. I'm about ready to go for a trim, but am afraid to go because my hairdresser, despite saying she understands curly hair, still thinks that "shortening it up will bring out the curl." Yes, I need to go to some one new, who does understand. Doesn't help that I turned 40 this year and am feeling the old "long hair on older women" thing, even though I know better.

I'm not saying you're not a 3a. I just have heard that a lot of 3a's tend to get curlier as they get longer, but it may not be true of your curls. I can't even tell by your pix b/c your fotki is down ~~jax

Edit* I just added a pic to my blonde highlights album. It really shows how much my hair has grown! I'm surprised!

I broke mine up into twice a day to get them all in, I take it with a meal and my stomach has been fine.

It has not upset my tummy at all. I just make sure that I have eaten before I take them! ~~jax
