You are absolutely right. I am trying to be more like you but it's hard.

I have found in the last couple of weeks I can't eat as much without getting overfull and since I've cut back portion sizes I've lost 3.5 pounds. I have also increased my exercising a bit.

I also think that eating "diet" foods and drinking diet soda is a bad idea. If you want something eat the regular satisfying version but eat less. I think you'll find you're more satisfied with less calories.
