A product that keeps my hair moist, literally
I have dry 4b/4a hair...now I keep my hair hydrated...but I want to find a product that will keep my hair looking/feeling moist throughout the day. I mean when I touch my hair I have to wipe my hand off moist. When someone touches my hair they ask..."girl what do you have in your hair?" moist. Idk, does a product like this exist?

What are you currently using? And are you shaking excess water out of your hair before/after you apply it? If your hair absorbs lots of water and takes a long time to dry, that may be something you have to work with (but shaking out excess water helps). And are you overapplying the product?

I think she WANTS a product that keeps her hair wet, not complaining about her hair staying wet.
I've heard that kinky curly custard keeps hair wet (or takes a long time to dry), other than that, I don't know

Oh wow, never would have gotten that. I'm curious though, what the OP perceives the benefits to be? Or entirely cosmetic? I'd be worried about the over-hydration and expanded hair shaft weakening my strands. Not to mention my scalp itches when it stays damp for too long.
I have no idea what would do that, although KCCC will stay wet/sticky for a long time.

The first thought that popped into my head: why do you want your hair to feel as if you have a Jheri curl?

I'm thinking a curl activator. I'm seemed several recommended for moisture in the 4a threads. Sandycoils recommends Softee Activator Gel.
I'm thinking it leaves the hair moist but not dripping or greasy. I'm sure sandycoils wouldn't use it otherwise.

Hello ladies...my hair is very dry...co-wash w/ hello hydration, leave-in condish w/ cantu, seal in the moisture with an oil, and apply a little gel. At first I was using ecostlye now im using Herbal Essence Totally Twisted, which I really love. But when it dries it feels dry...I want something that will keep my hair looking and feeling hydrated. I've considered a curl activator but I thought you would only use that if you have a texturizer.

Could your products be causing the dryness?
What type of oil are you using?

Do you clarify? Cantu and the TT have silicones. The Cantu also has some protein which your hair might be overdosing on. Additionally, some gels have proteins as well. The protein can make your hair feel drier and more brittle. The silicones can build up and prevent moisture from entering your hair.

ITA. If you are using too much protein and not getting enough moisture, your hair will be dry and brittle. If you don't clarify your hair of silicones, they will build up and cause dryness.
Use a good clarifying shampoo (or baking soda) and do a good moisturizing deep conditioning. You can still use the products you use (bec they work for you), just be aware of the buildup and upping the moisture

I don't texturize my hair and I use Carefree Curl Gold Spray almost everyday in the morning. Haven't used the gels for jheri curls but they probably work pretty good.

I agree with maybejadey You can still use the products that you like just make sure you clarify your hair from the silicones and too much protein. You want to keep your hair moisturize that is the #1 key. I dont use gel on my hair like eco/ic fantasia, my hair like herbal gels because they have no drying alcohols and they keep my hair moisturized, and using a moisturizing spray is also great (s curl is good you can find it at bss). Try the baggy method thats also great for keeping your hair moist. :-)

Now that I'm learning my hair, I know which products just don't work for me. Could you be using something that's causing dryness? And what kind of oil are you using? I had to experiment to find out which oils work for me. My hair stays moist with food grade oils. I've tried so many butters and moisturizers and nothing has worked as well as hazenut oil! Just don't over do it!

Yes to Cucumbers makes a super good leave-in conditioner. I just started using it, literally just started, I bought it this morning for 12.99 at Target. It's like a body lotion for your hair and my hair is now ridiculously moist! Mind you I'm heavy handed so I've already used 3 out of the 12 ounces during my first application . It detangles well too.
What kind of gel do you use? Unless it's an alcohol free gel I can almost promise you that it's the gel coupled with the cantu that's drying out your hair. MaybeJadey had it right when she said to ring out excess water. If your applying product directly after the wash onto dripping wet hair your hair isn't able to absorb what it needs from the products.

RE:
Yeah? For all I know, the curl activator gel could probably do a better job than others I've been trying (not calling names !!)

ok so i kicked the gel to the way side...i have been shingling my hair with olive oil and cantu leave in...i really like the curl definition and it feels alot better but im pushing for more moisture...im thinking about shingling my hair with my whipped shea butter and aloe vera gel...it might work?

I use products that are all about shea and aloe and my hair does not stay moist all day. Well, yesterday with just a bunch of Jessicurl Too Shea used as a leave-in I did have a "moist" patch at the back at the end of the day. But my personal opinion is no, moisturized, but not moist.
