They were very adventurous and tried burgandy! I'm tempted to do black with splashes of purple for my next one

Ooh, I think I might try brown highlights next time. I like that. And I definitely like the twists. Kinda reminds me of kinky twists. Not sure if that is because how big you did them (how many piences yarn did use per twist) or how close up your pic was. Anyways, I love the look!

Lots of people have told me that thye look like kinky twists! I always use two pieces, but I think my parts are larger than most people's.

This thread was opened a while ago but I hope someone still answers...
I found out about yarn braids just yesterday and I soo badly want to get them too!!! Well, I would be doing them myself, I even already got yarn ;D The thing is, and I feel really stupid about asking that, but do you think it would look nice on "white" girls too??? In general, I don't really care if one style is somehow only "meant" to be worn by certain people/races, because in my opinion stuff like that doesn't exist and it depends more on your style, the shape of the face etc. But I heard people saying that it would just be like copying other people's style and stuff...just let me know what you think

lol it will look jus fine on you, i get what you mean totally, people think im Jamaican because the yarn braids come out looking like dreads.. If your worried about the look try it on 1 peice of hair 1st, are you a blond or a brunette? i wonder if they have blondish yarn?

The day when I found out about the braids I just did one on one strand of hair, and I kinda liked it so I just decided to do ALL my hair (took me 2 and a half days xD) and I really like the results!!! I have medium-brown hair so I just got brown yarn and it actually looks just like my hair (guess it blended in very well ^^) I guess blondes could use like beige/creme or even yellow-ish kind of yarn... Haha the braids actually make me look real alternative and "organic" but I don't mind, I think it's cool!!
But how often do you wash them? And what do you use? I read some people use just regular shampoo or diluted shampoo, does all of this just rinse out? (I'm kind of sceptical because I heard so many bad stories about washing dreads, so I don't know...:P)

I did my genie locs over Christmas and I loved them. They are so easy to style cuz they can be srunched to hold more shape. And the are a great way to practice braiding. They were the 1st set of braids I did on my hair and it helped alot when I recently did my box braids. Here's some pix 

I'm going to put in a set this weekend. I've always done my own kinky twists and did my first set of Senegalese twists in April, which is what I'm rocking right now. Shondadini yours are the perfect length that I want, but I'll probably make mine a little bigger to save some time. I hope they come out well. I know it's summer and all but I'm tired of having synthetic hair all over my bathroom when I'm done. This seems to be WAY neater, less bulky and will still give me the same results... not having to DO my hair for months at a time!
