Ouidad Products... Like Them? Love Them?

So.. somehow this morning I turn on my TV and what's on there??? HSN! No idea how. I don't watch that channel ever.

Anyways, they have a Ouidad 13-piece set for only $30 for today only. I really want to try this (because it's so cheap!) even though my current products are working for me just fine. Maybe because it's early in the morning and my PJ-ism was easily activated. Who knows?

But before I buy it... for the other ladies with dry and tight curls... have you tried it? If so.. how did it work for you??

Here's a link if you're interested.

The two items i'm most interested in are:

8.5 oz. Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel - styling gel helps to tame, smooth and control even the most unruly, unmanageable hair. Eliminates frizzies and flyaways, even in harsh, hot and humid conditions. Lightweight, water-soluble formula won't weigh down your hair but helps you create beautifully-defined curls with all-day hold.
8.5 oz. Botanical Boost Moisture Infusion Refreshing Spray - lightweight, aloe vera-based spray-in conditioner helps refresh and revive curls while calming frizzies and flyaways. May be used on wet or dry hair to revive, detangle or refresh curls.

What's your experience with these?

the climate control gel is the truth! it's like KCCC on steroids.

the only thing about ouidad products (if you don't mind the price) is that they aren't CG friendly and they are loaded with protein. there are literally 5 differnt kinds of protein in one product. my hair loves protein but even that is a bit much for me. so instead of trying to use an all ouidad

It seems like you wanted to say more here... lol! Please continue!

Thanks for the info.. I'm not sure how my hair does with a lot of protein but I don't like the fact that they aren't CG friendly.. but it's only $30... *sigh*

Am I the only one who considers buying things because it's a good deal when otherwise I might not get it? LOL

I've only tried the 12 minute deep treatment/conditioner but it is a miracle product for me. I don't know how, but it makes curls I didn't even know I had POP! I always get compliments on my hair the next few days after using it and my curls seem extra bouncy. I haven't found a deep treatment I like more so the price is negated by the results for me...

ah i didn't realized i had abandonded my train of thought! anyway, i was going to say, instead of trying to convert to using ouidad products exclusively, using a few of the products might be a better idea.

at $30 for all of those products, it's definitely a good buy. and then from there you can pick and choose what you really like and what you can do without. from my own experience, i wasn't in love with the curl quencher shampoo or conditioner or the clear control pomade. the pomade does make your hair shine, but mineral oil is the 2nd ingredient. i did like the sun shield spray leave in (i used that to refresh my 2nd day hair, or as a sun protectant before swimming).

How could you say this sentence to me. OMG. Now I have to try it. My hair loves protein and KCCC.

ETA: Nevermind way too many cones and not far enough down on list.

Cosign on the DT. I don't think my hair loves protein, but it loves this protein treatment every once in a while.

I agree with Subbrock. Mixing and matching is the way to go for me as well with Ouidad.

I have tried all the products except the volume boosting and kids line.

My favorites are the climate control, tress fx and balancing rinse. I prefer the clear and gentle shampoo to her others as well.

I can pass on the botanical boost (which I still have a ton of) it can be a hit or miss.

snowbunny5 07-08-2010 04:54 PM

Opps. I forgot, I did try a sample of the curl quench and balancing rinse as well about a year ago. They worked really well on my hair as well. The curl quench gave me really good slip and made me hair feel silky. I guess my hair may love protein more than I thought now that I am reviewing the Ouidad ingredients list...

Hmmm...once I finish my product junkie detox I may have to purchase these items as well...

i have the climate control in my hair now...under clear ecostyler cause ouidad gels don't hold my hair down at ALL. feels pretty good so far haven't gone out yet to see how it's going to hold up.

I am watching this one too, I need some ideas...my Ouidad stuff has dust on it. I have the Climate Control Gel, Moisture Lock Leavein, Moisturizing Styling Gel, Moisturizing Conditioner and even the damn double detangler comb crap.

I tried the Balancing Rinse Conditioner this weekend and was extremely disappointed. I don't know if the protein was a bit too much (but my hair normally loves protein) for me or what. No slip and I was quite heavy handed. It also rinsed squeaky clean...as if I had not put any conditioner on my hair...I will admit my curls popped when I put it in, but no slip and rinsing squeaky clean as if no conditioning took place is a no-no... I had such high hopes as it contains lactic acid and my hair performs wonderfully with the conditioners I have tried with that ingredient.

I guess I will try it as a leave-in, although glycerine is pretty high up and I normally wait to spring-ending/summer-beginning to bring products with glycerine back out...

I still have the Moisture Lock Leave-In , Climate Control, and Botanical Boost to try...

I should add that when I test a new product I really test it, as in on squeaky clean clarified hair...not sure how it would hold up in a co-wash or conditioner layering situation...

Had to weigh in:
So ouidad curl quench heat and humidity gel was the first "higher end" styling gel I used. One of my friends told me I should give it a try. I have to say I feel kind of so-so about it. I didn't absolutely love the results and it's quite pricey for a gel I don't love. There was nothing "wrong" per se. It was just that the ingredients aren't all fabulous and the gel didn't tame my frizz completely without turning crunchy from using too much. I'm far more partial to KCCC and Kiss my Face UMG.
As for refresher sprays.... My hair kind of universally shrugs at them. I much prefer straight up water to any expensive refresher spray.

Alice_42 03-21-2012 07:01 AM

I got a bunch of Ouidad stuff from a friend when she moved and I found them to be really hit or miss. I liked the gel the moisturizing gel, but you need a TINY amount to get great results, and the learning curve for that was...surprisingly steep. And since it's so protein full, if you're not careful-BOOM dry, crunchy, protein overloaded city.

crimsonpeach 03-21-2012 09:10 PM

I just tried the Moisture Lock Leave-in. I'm not a fan. It wasn't terrible but not as moisturizing as I hoped.
