How are you maintaining your hair this summer? Using a lot of oil?

Hey curlies,

I was a on a break, but I'm back b/c I need your help! This weather is MURDERING my curls! I've been washing my hair every day b/c I can no longer get 2nd day+ hair with this damn heat/humidity. And between the oil and the stylers I use, it doesn't work to just re-wet it. I just start over every night. Granted, it dries MUCH quicker and I use a diffuser now as well. But I still don't wanna wash it every night! Anyone have any ideas to keep curls longer in this weather?

Also, I have noticed that after I seal my hair (from root to tip) it doesn't get absorbed as well, and it ends up on my pillow case (not pretty- sounds like the old jherri curl lol). Is this b/c of the humidity? Am I just using too much? Anyone have this experience? FYI I use food grade oils...hazelnut, Rice Bran, or Avocado.
Puff ponies.

I don't know if it's this Southern humidity, but my curls refuse to get any definition, especially at the right front part of my head (???).

So... puff ponies.

I cowash in the mornings. I don't like wetting my hair everyday, either. A couple times a week, I just deal with the frizz/less defined curls. I just let my hair mist in the shower then afterwards, I rub some moisturizer/butter or oil/ and a bit of eco in the palm of my hand and rub it through my hair. I throw it in a puff. I don't do too much protective styling just because my hair can't take a lot of twisting, etc. It makes my hair fall.
I'm visiting the Gulf Coast right now and temporaily lost my ability to get second day hair. Her's how I think I fixed it. I took a tip from the Genral Discussion Board and bought a gel from Ulta - BioSilk Rock Hard Gelee to use with KCCC.

I gel mainly with KCCC and then I put just a little of this hard hold gel on my frizz prone spots...the ends, the canopy, etc and I'm getting 2nd day hair now. This gel would normally be way to hard and dry for Kansas but it's just right here.

You might also want to mix your oil with your leave-in or using it sparingly. I can't use a lot of oil right now. I'm using Mozeke Whipped Cream to seal and a little jojoba to scrunch out the crunch. It's all my hair can tolerate here.

I cannot use oil right now either. I recently started twisting again, because leaving my hair out was not working. I also experimented with glycerin based moisturizers and that does the job for me.

ETA: Your hair is beautiful!
4, fine, low-medium density, low porosity

But I really appreciate this and I will check out Mozeke's stuff again. Also, I thought the oil was the culprit...so I stopped for a couple days...oh hell no, I was frizz city (not the good kind)! I think maybe certain oils work better in this weather though...either that or my DMMC was the culprit. I have gone back to KCCC b/c the *new* DMMC wasn't doing it anymore and I can get KCCC on the ground.

So much to learn. I'm gonna be 10 yrs in by the time I'm an expert on my own hair lol
