Finally, A Recipe That Works!!!

I haven't posted in about 5 years. I kept trying to find a holy grail product, but it wasn't happening. I tried every recipe under the sun to create a product that I could use to encourage my naturally coily hair to clump and perform. Ladies, I gave up. I remained natural (no creamy stuff), but decided to blow dry, flat iron and wrap at night.

Because my hair is now shoulder length, I've recently wondered what it would look like if I stopped with the heat, and started used a styling product again. Nearly immediately, my hair related Obsessive Complusive Disorder kicked in. I started scouring all my old haunts on the internet. Unlike 5 years ago, this time, I was able to pull myself out of the spiral before I crashed. I didn't give up, I just put the thought on the back burner.

Recently, I was at Target and decided to see what they had on the shelf that I might try. I purchased one item for <$3.00 while thinking "give it another try."

Here's the recipe--only 3 ingredients. Just mix, condition wash and finger comb in sections beginning at the nape, working up to the crown, and then the front hairline:

>>3 Parts LaBella Max Hold styling gel 22oz. (Target ~$3.00)
>>1 Part IC Fantasia styling gel 16 oz. (Sally's ~$4.00 or free if you already have it at home)
>>1 Tablespoon Jojaba oil

That's it. I do this in batches of 1 cup.

I find that the IC gel is just too think for me to work with. If you can't find LaBella, not to worry. This styling gel is more liquidy than IC Fantasia. The LaBella cuts the IC. If you are thinking about using water or aloe vera, I wouldn't try either. The ingredients in both styling gels is what makes this work and provides wonderful hold.

Enjoy!!
glad you found something that works for ya!
