It seems like noone else has fine 4a hair. My hair is fine but thick and it hates protien. Im in an awkward growth phase so its been months since my hair has looked as nice as it did in my avie, please tell me about your hair here! Celebrate or commiserate!
My hair is fine and loves protein. My hair isn't thick at all. I like to keep my hair combed out to make my hair look bigger. If I would leave my hair unmanipulated then it would be so thin looking and feel thin to me.

My hair is fine and is not thick either -- why I love the fluffy 2nd day hair look. I don't use protein alone, but my favorite moisturizing DT has 5 proteins. My hair loves balance. And my dry-styled 2nd or 3rd day hair always needs a little moisturiziing product on the ends and scrunched in. My porous hair can take a fair amount of product.

I have fine, 4a hair, and a lot of it. I find that it tangles, sometimes pretty miserably, and curls in and around on itself. I don't normally have issues with proteins, unless of course I use them too often. Which is why at the present time I do a protein treatment about once a month. Since I am no longer using heat, and am growing out my relaxer, I don't think I need to alternate between moisturizing and protein treatments on a weekly basis.

I do, however, need products with good slip so that I can detangle my hair easily. My hair seems to respond well to silicones and sulfates, but, I have stopped using products that contain mineral oil and petrolatum.

My hair is fine and somewhat dense and low porosity. It loves protein. It also love glycerin, too, which it's not supposed to but it does.

I'm also highly porous and have thin hair in the front. The back is more medium density. I don't have issues with protein. I'd like thick and dense hair so that my twists don't look so spacey.

I have fine, thin 4a hair that is low porosity. Most creams and butters weight my hair down and will not absorb anyway, so I stick to watery products like mousse, serums, gels, gellies, etc. My hair likes rosemary or jojoba oil ONLY. Castor, coconut or olive oil spell disaster. I have recently added a light protein conditioner to my regimen.

Sometimes I think I want thick hair, but when I detangle so easily--I think again.

hmmm....this thread needs bumping. DON'T MIND IF I DO!
I'm a fine 4a! I don't know if my hair likes proteins or not. I use organic, unrefined shea butter, vegetable glycerin/water mix (both bought from Mountain Rose Herbs If you want to make your own products they sell bulk and sell pure herbs, oils, and butters, etc...) and Kinky Curly Curling Custard.

Clarification needed please (I'm confused) LOL

Fine is being used as opposed to coarse is it not? (strand thickness or something)

Thick/dense mean the same thing then? << number of strands on head

help me out here. Looks like coarse and thick are being used interchangeably as well as fine/thin.

Can fine/dense hair mimic coarse hair? Can coarse/thin hair mimic fine hair? LOL okay I'm confusing myself. Nevermind

When referring to thick and thin it means the NUMBER of hairs you have on your head. Many hair strands equal thick hair, not so many equals thin. Fine and Coarse refer to the width of the individual hair strand Fine hair is a thin strand of hair which is supposed to be more likely to be damaged ESP by chemical processing because it would so easily penetrate the strand leaving it over processed[which is what happened to me when I relaxed] and Coarse hair is a very thick strand of hair that is resistant to relaxers because it needs to be left on longer in order to penetrate the strand.
Im not exactly sure on those density things and porosity though...
If I'm wrong feel free to correct me, sorry for the long explanation, I just like to be thourough...
Another fine-haired curly here. My hair won't survive without good detangling conditioners, and it doesn't object to proteins.
