shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie with ecostyler olive oil gel

Ok, so ive started using the shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie underneath my ecostyler gel to make my curls a little bit softer. Something must be wrong, because i had a bunch of white residue when i tried the combo together last! Maybe im using too much of one of the products/? Has anyone else ever tried this combo or had these issues?

The residue was there while my hair was still wet. I thought it looked icky and then went to wash it out . Maybe i should do it again, wait for it to dry and see the results?! I know that the curl enhancing smoothie spreads very well, so i try not to use a lot of that... foxy cleopatra what type of conditioner do you use before you put in the curl enhancing smoothie?
i had no icky results either... experiment with the ratios or maybe even mix some in ur hand first to see how it will play

I learned my lesson a while ago. Before mixing anything together on my hair, I always mix it in my hand first so see how it will react. If it turns into white gunky mess, I know not to use that combo. The last thing I want to do is repeat having to hold my head over my bathroom sink to wash out the white mess in my hair.

My hair hates Ecostyler layered with most LIs, try premixing it with oil and conditioner - SilverAngel45 started a thread on it.

LOIS (OS); cottony, TYPE 4 hair, fine/med strands; no cones bcz my hair hates them; last relaxer '98; now low porosity, ignores most natural hair rules; BC #8

faves: suave, v05 shampoo, conditioner (my own), raw shea butter, castor oil, peanut oil, aloe juice
when it dried, i had a teeny bit of white residue. Not little white balls but a type of "film". It may be from conditioner i use to cowash my hair with. I use hello hydration by herbal essences... hmmm. Maybe i try cowashing with a different deep conditioner and see if the white ilm.residue goes away.
& i'll also try mixing it in my hands before putting it in my hair.
hello hydration has silicones. maybe they don't work well with ecostyler.

that could be as well. the cones may not mix wel with ecostyler. When im done using hello hydration i plan on switching to tresemme naturals for a while, since this condit has no cones
THIS DRIVES ME NUTS TOO!! i really like the curl enhancing smoothie and my ecostyler gel, but when they mix in my hair, its somewhat of a disaster!
I use Shea Moisture hair milk on wet hair under EcoStyler. It dries shiny and defined with residue.
No MAS.

My little trick when using Eco because it's such a heavy gel is to spritz with water after I apply it and the wrap my head with a tshirt for a few minutes. If there is any remaining residue, jut pat out those areas and shake. I use eco with Shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie too and it works every time.

Also, the curl enhancing smoothie is one of those leaveins that I have to work into my hair first before applying gel so there's nothing to "mix" with when I apply the ecostyler. You really don't need a lot of the smoothie.

Good luck @melba.woodar.
My hair: thick, medium/coarse, high porosity in the crown naturally, normal porosity everywhere else.
