Would you use Ambi Fade Cream as a moisturizer?

I just saw a You Tube video where this teenage girl (black) uses Ambi Fade Cream as a moisturizer. Is this common?

I was kind of appalled.

Turtle, you need to stop. Oh lord that is so nasty but somehow funny.

I'm sorry y'all. She was using it as a facial moisturizer, I should have been more specific. I've never seen Ambi used that way. Hell, I haven't seen Ambi used in at least 15 years.

oh! lmao

why be appalled? some folks have uneven skin tone because of acne, i know plenty of folks that do things to even their skin out.

hell i use a few things myself. i have a ran glycolatic peel thingy and this pumpkin mask thing. they can help even out your skin.

I've used it on my skin, but it's not moisturizing. I used it underneath my shea butter. Sometimes my skin goes through phases where my complexion gets slightly uneven so I use it then. It doesn't lighten the skin color itself & you are only supposed to use it on the areas that need it.
Maybe the camera just does wonders for skin, but I thought her skin looked perfect: http://www.youtube.com/user/jaybabycool#p/u

Oh my goodness...Ambi. I remember these two girls at my High School had used it on their faces so much that they had an unatural looking, light brown face but their neck and ears were dark brown....it looked so freaky.

I've used it for hyperpigmentation, but its not that effective. There are stronger products out there.

My BFF has been using Nadinola fade cream for YEARS (for spot treatments, fading, and moisturizing), since high school I believe. At the time she did have uneven skin tone, but after 15 years I don't see the sense in her continued use of it. TBQH, her face skin looks quite translucent now!!! I keep telling her to use something else for moisture purposes, but I guess it's a psych thing... she doesn't want the spots to "return."

I've seen those freaky looking Africans with lighter skin and darker necks/hands. I've also seen women walking around looking like chocolate chip cookies. To each their own, I guess.
A dermatologist told me that in order to fade dark spots, the cream should really just be applied to the spot so that it will lighten the spot area, but not the entire skin surrounding the spot... hence prevent the chocolate chip cookie look.
But the continued use all goes back to that self-love/hate stuff. It really takes time/years to reach self-actualization... I know it took me many years to come to terms with a lot of things I can't change about myself. Hopefully, someone will guide this teen to feeling better about herself and her beauty (inside and out)
Sidebar: now there's links of Hydroquinone to skin cancer... go figure.

I used Ambi Fade Cream on my earlobes as a teenager because of discoloration from wearing cheap earrings (nickel sensitivity). It didn't work. I didn't think it was still on the market.

Doesn't plain shea/cocoa butter help even skin tone? I definitely wouldn't use that mess I'm already pale enough...

I do notice that since I've switched to using oils (argan, in particular) to moisturize my skin instead of lotions, I have far fewer breakouts/pimples. Maybe I should seriously start this method.
Cocoa butter/shea butter only moisturizes my skin... I have yet to find something to even it out nicely.

ambi has hydroquinone in it, which is very harmful to use continuously. i think you're only supposed to use it for a few months tops, then take a break from it. you are definitely not suppose to be using it

1) daily for months/years on end, or
2) all over your face.

she needs to read the back of the label. this is clearly stated.

I have those dark spots on my face from acne years ago and recently I've started using raw African soap and it's improving my skin. I wish I can get my money back off that damn Proactive.

What's an oil cleansing?
Umm, I use Ambi face moisturizer to moisturize my face. Ain't no way in heck any kind of fade cream will make ANYthing moist.
