Man I am so sick of with dealing with my low porosity hair. I think I said this in another thread but I think it's getting worse as time marches on *shudders*

I'm having a hard time with mine too. My KCCC started breaking my hair (unheard of...my hair doesn't usually break off badly...) and my hair just doesn't feel great anymore...I'm cone-free too! and i was using suave coconut for protein for the last 2 co-washes...so wth...what's wrong with my hair? I deep conditioned yesterday for over an hour...and...*shrugs*

I'm all for natural hair, but washing my hair -- even conditioning it - is freakin exhausting. I lose so much hair every time (thanks, thyroid) and feel gross/slimy when I'm done from the conditioner (I need some clips to put my hair up with when i'm done doing my hair in the shower) ...is that normal? (Like I said, maybe clips will solve that problem.)

I want to try some summer protective styles...

I ordered a wig and I like the style but not the color. Well it is not the color so much as the highlites. The picture looked like just a few but the back of the wig is heavily highlited and too much and too unnatural looking for me. I never got around to sending it back and now it is too late so I was wondering if it is possible to dye a synthetic wig or shoulf I just give it to one of my relatives.

Do you ladies ever experience your ends sticking together? :/ I've thoroughly checked my hair room root to tip over and over-they look just peachy. Yet, they'll stick together at times. For example: I untwisted my hair and noticed the ends like to stick together as if holding on for dear life. I fear tangles will result from this, but my hair doesn't tangle often. I could just be overreacting...Anyone have similar experiences?

Yes, but I think it's because of the way I 'roll' the end of my twists to 'seal' the end. If it really struggles to pull apart I know I need a trim.

I agree with Jo, if my hair catches more than normal I know its time. When I'm taking my braids down if they don't pull apart easily, when braiding or twisting and I get to the end if it feels bushy and doesn't want to stay...those are my indicators I need a trim.

Thanks ladies. ^^ After washing my hair (a few days after I took the twists out) I'm not experiencing it, but I'll probably go ahead and trim anyway!

What do you do when you get tired of fooling with your hair? My hair has grown to that point where it's getting on my nerves. The last time I got to this point I shaved it all off again. I immediately regreted it but I'm getting the itch to shave it again because I'm tired of dealing with it. I pretty much only wear buns because it takes too long to twist and if i wear a wng it takes too long to detangle plus having all this hair on my neck is hot. I have to wash my hair once a week so I weave doesn't seem worth the money. Is there anything else I could try thats low maintenance to give me a break?

it seems a little counter intuitive, but when i'm tired of my hair, i stretch my hair (like, STRETCH, stretch. dry bradiout, undo and rebraid until it's as stretched out as it can possibly be), comb any hint of a curl/crinkle out (dry, of course), and experiment w/ "straight" styles.

this is a little playlist i started back in may when i was experimenting

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0DAF47B36F60C112

you can just blow dry your hair if you don't want to bother w/ the stretching and combing (reverts faster, though). you can do these on curly hair as well.

it helps b/c i find that detangling is usually what makes me start to get irritated w/ my hair. this way, my hair is out of my way and barely gets tangled.

I did some highlights in my hair. Kinda of a dark red somethin or another. It was a permanent dye and I didn't use a booster so it didn't get as bright. I only see the color in pics or the light.
Question is if I want those to get brighter can I dye those parts again? In general would it damage my hair? Also, should I use a booster or would the color by itself do the job? I don't want it super bright, just so I can actually see it.
Here's some pics. It looks more brown than I think it is. But u get my drift

Wigs. Mine are shorter than my real hair and not on my shoulders. I can get to my hair and wash it as much as I want. I have a lot of hair so people are amazed I can get it under a shorter wig.

I don't think so. I've never seen it there. I have used bentonite clay which can be bought at a health food store.

I'm curious how people here apply Curls' Cashmere Curls Jelly. I got a sample and it says for kinkier curls use it as a moisturizer/curl softener.

I've tried it but I want to see how other people used it. LI? Styler?

I am planning on changing my shampoo technique but need some advice. I usually wash my hair free and wild, no twists, no braids, no sections. I am worried about whatever flakes I may have at the scalp not rinsing down the shaft, so I avoid sectioning or hairstyles where my strands are restricted. However, this make my detangling routine longer (even with all the slippery conditioners and tools I own). Am I paranoid and should just give sectioning a try? Does anyone have this concern and found a way to manage it?

I wash my hair in 4 sections but each section is free when I wash and rinse the hair. This is done to make sure the shampoo and conditioner rinse completely. I do sections as this makes it easier to get the hair and scalp totally clean, reduces any matting that may occur with the shampoo and detangling becomes a breeze for me. I do not wash and rinse with the braids in...I never seem to rinse fully when that is done.

I section wash in four sections with ponytail holders. I take one ponytail section down , scrub my scalp , shampoo/cowash, rinse, and then put back into the ponytail. I then go on to the next three sections

I wash my hair free. I detangle in sections. My shampoo doesn't tangle up my hair.
