How long do you guys leave henna in your hair?

I posted this in CurlNikki & I wanted to post this here too.

I wanted to know how long do you guys leave henna in your hair? This is my first time doing the treatment and I don't want to experience protein overload.

Wow!!! You guys leave your henna in for a long time. Thnx for letting me know how long you leave it in.
I think the min is 2-4 hours to get any benefit at all from it. I just can't stand to have the stuff on my head so it's easier to sleep in it. (And not be awake.)

About 4 hours, but overnight if I apply it at night and don't feel like rinsing it out.

if im using it as a conditioner 30 minutes, if im tired and lazy i will sleep it in overnight

however good henna will release dye immediately so i dont need to wait for the color release more than an hour
I leave it in for at least 4 hours, but I have left in overnight. It's really messy so I stopped doing it overnight. I also use indigo after I henna. So for me it's an all day process 3-4 hours henna, then 3-4 hours with indigo.
2-4 hours, with the first hour spent under a heat cap or bonnet dryer.
It depends on what you want out of it. I do henna for the conditioning effects so I leave it on for 2 hours. I've tried to do it for 1 hour and the results are just not the same so 2 hours is the minimum. I never wait for dye release and my grays in the front still turn copper/red. My hair is black so it doesn't change the color of my hair just the greys However, it does add tons of shine to my hair. My hair naturally shiny but henna makes it even more so. After my 2 hours henna treatment, I use the indigo for only 30 minutes on the front to cover the greys works like a charm
The shortest amount of time for me is 4 hours and the longest is over night. I prefer overnight because I think I have better coverage and the effects seem to last longer. 4 hours will cover my few grey strands and still provide the conditioning effects. I did try the henna gloss but I really did not see anything that a regular deep conditioner would not have accomplished with less mess.

I leave mine in overnight because I'm too lazy to wash it out in a couple of hours. Plus, it gives me really soft hair when I do this.

Wow, how do you keep the henna from dying your hair. i would like to keep it in long, but i dont want that orange/red tint that comes with it.

When I use henna, I leave it in for no longer than 2-3 hours.

You didn't mention color, so I will assume you are going for conditioning only. For color, you will need to leave it in for a longer timeframe, 4-6-8 hrs depending on your original hair color and what you're going for.

Either way, you should always follow your henna with a moisturizing DT to avoid dryness.
