Default How to clean mineral deposits from hair steamer???

Shame on me but I got tired of using distilled water and now there is mineral deposits in some of the steam holes and steam/water sputters out of some of the holes. Is there anyway to clean it to get rid of the mineral deposits?

I was thinking vinegar...not sure how I can get it to penetrate all of the crevices. I'm waiting to hear back from the company. I purchased from SalonsRus.com

Vinegar will do it I just don't know how you'd get it thru the holes.

Thanks for confirming my thought about the vinegar. Not sure how I will get it through the holes either.

How about just adding vinegar to the water container? Eventually, as you use the steamer, the vinegar water should clean the holes...right?

If you try it, let us know if it works.

Oh...if you have the space, when there is sale on distilled water, buy 5+ gallons at time, this way you will always have distilled water available.

I have one of these steamers and it calls for tap water, not distilled. Which one did you get?

I purchased mine well over a year ago when they only had the distilled version. I see they over a tap version now.

You are welcome!

My steamer also requires distilled water. I think a gallon usually lasts 2+ months, and I steam weekly approximately 30 minutes to an hour.

I also my steamer from Salons R Us. When I received it, I called the company for info on steaming. They suggested cleaning with 2 parts water 1 part vinegar, once a month. As others have said you put the water (distilled) and vinegar into water dispenser and run it until all of the water is gone. Run another cycle of a full water dispenser with just water to get the vinegar smell out.
