I Wanna Wash these Kinky Twists
Hi!
I have had kinky twists in for about 1 1/2 weeks, and would like to wash them. I am looking for tips. I am thinking of spraying scalp with lo-poo diluted with water, massage, rinse, then spray with dilute condish. Do I rinse again, or just use that as a leave in, and call it a day? And how often should I wash? Will they begin to slip? When my hair was out, and I cowashed, I did it at least twice per week. Am I doing my hair a diservice by washing every two weeks? I spritz with a home-made spritz daily-AOHSR, Mist-her right, and castor oil...Thanks!

If they were done correctly you shouldn't experience slippage. But as your hair grows while it's in this style, your new growth will obviously be outside of the start of the braid. No avoiding that- but you still shouldn't experience any slippage when washing it.
I would suggest washing as often as you usually do- if that's every 2 weeks then do that. But if you find your scalp to be itchy or whatever, feel free to wash it. The best thing about protective styling is not having to worry about detangling for a while so that takes a lot of the pain out of washing your hair. When I'm PS'ing I tend to wash more frequently than if I wore styles that required me to detangle- which is why I prefer to wear twists and other protective styles instead of wearing my hair "out".

I wash with baking soda solution (1 tbls baking soda and 32 oz hot water). Then I spray with diluted conditioner to condition, rinse, wrap in a towel. When damp spray leave in braid spray and done. Works for me
I actually just did this yesterday and I've had my twists for 1.5 weeks.
To avoid slippage (did your braider start with a twist or a braid?), wash in sections and tie them back up. I just split my hair down the middle and then tie two really loose pigtails and wash each side tying each side back up after I'm done

^^you can use my method just make sure you rinse the bs well before conditioning. But the diluted shampoo works well too, for me I've found that bs works better for removing any scalp buildup with minimal rubbing and thus no slippage. Good luck and let us know how it goes

When I wore kinky twists to transition, I washed like this: squirt Suave Green Apple Shampoo on scalp, lather, rinse and wrap hair in a towel to dry. This is probably not the best method. With that said, here is a video that may help: ( YouTube - How I Wash My Extensions: Requested Video)
