Default has anyone tried the shea moisture deep treatment

i just picked it up at target..the stuff is aaa-mazing. my hair is so moisturized. on the packaging is says you can use as of course a DC but as a leave in or a frizz-free styling cream.
last night i trimmed my ends.. sprayed some oyin's frank juice and then the shea moisture as a moisturizer and went to bed ..now its morning and my hair is still moisturized.

I have it. It did nothing for me as a DC, but as a styler, it rocks.

It did nothing for me either way, but I'm holding on to it. maybe once I snip these ends it'll change for me. I doubt it tho- my hair hates coconut oil.

I purchased it as a DC and it left my hair feeling somewhat stripped and dry. Disappointed because I absolutely love how it smells, I tried it again the following week to DC, but this time added olive oil and honey hoping it would soften up my hair. No such luck. Still felt stripped.

Refusing to give up and waste my pennies, I decided to try a smidgen of it as a nightly moisturizer, which worked out quite well.

Same here. I usually cant dc with something shea based, but as a moisturizing cream it's pretty awesome. Most days I dont need any other product for moisture. Too bad I have to order online, but it's worth it.

I tried it and it just didn't feel like I was putting a deep treatment on my hair. It felt more like it was supposed to be moisturizer or something I could use for twisting my hair or something. It just didn't feel like a conditioner or anything that you'd rinse out or put on your hair to condition it after you wash it. It had no slip and it kind of has the consistency of thick frosting. It was a weird product for me

It wasn't moisturizing for me either.

I've been using SMDTM, I'm newly natural and I like it...it leaves my hair soft. I have been adding things into (trying to get moisture in my hair). What I like most about it, is that it is available at Target, 9.99 for 12oz...so I feel like I should be able to add a couple of things to it to get it where I want it in the future...

Tried the DC and i liked it the first couple of times. May repurchase it again, and have it in the cupboard just in cause i need a quick DC. love the smell, but after i used it for a while it left my hair dry.

I have only tried it as a DC and I found I have to sit under the dryer with it. It is ok I am not wowed by it but it is only $10 and I can buy it locally so there is the trade off.

The first few times I used it I wasn't impressed, so I added a bit of cupaucu butter, amla oil and powder, coconut milk and castor. It was the bomb!

I'll repurchase more just to have it on hand.

When used alone, this product is ok....but add a few oils (i use rice bran, sweet almond, and castor oils) and honey and using a heating cap makes it the BOMB.

As a DC alone its does absolutely nothing for my hair. I have to soup it up with extra oils and honey. But as a moisturizer its pretty good, I have achieved some nice twist outs with it

+1

Did nothing for my hair and because I hated the scent, I had to rinse and wash it out. Did not try it as a leave in.

Love it as a leave-in styler not so much as a DC.

Wasn't impressed with using it as a DC. Even with honey and EVOO added. I always end up with tons of tangles after I use it.
Last time I used it I put a slippery conditioner underneath and detangled first, then used it with some coconut oil, hemp oil and jojoba oil and it was better.

Never thought to use it as a styler... I'll definitely have to try that!

I it as a leave-in conditioner/styler. It's leaves my hair well-moisturized, fragrant and shiny. It's better than my previous fave leave-in conditioner--the old formula of Yes to Carrots conditioner. After I finish my conditioner stockpile, Shea Moisture DTM will be the only leave-in conditioner I use.

it's weird, sometimes the smell is okay and sometimes it makes me feel nauseated (and i'm not hyper sensitive to smells). when i run out i think i'll just use my qhemet burdock root cream because i prefer that as a moisturizer. i never used it as a dc because everyone said it was no good for that.

I just bought some from Target today to try out for an overnight DC. I'm a huge fan of baggying (even in winter ) and try to DC at least every other night when home in southern VA (I go to school in Philadelphia and I'm lucky if I remember to do it once a month due to the cold and being busier). I'm already a huge fan of the Shea Moisture line (I've got the Raw Shea Moisturizing Shampoo, Coconut and Hibiscus Hair Milk, Coconut and Hibiscus Smoothie) but something about the deep treatment told me that either my hair would really like it or really hate it. The smell is also weird for me...sometimes I like it, sometimes it's enough to make my stomach lurch. It's odd.

Anyway, I got out the shower about twenty minutes ago after washing my hair, squeezed some of the extra water out, spread some in the palms of my hands and smoothed it through my damp hair. Combed it in to make sure it was spread evenly, noticed the residue, didn't care since I'm rinsing it out in the morning anyway, and added a bit more to the back of my hair since it's typically drier there. Plopped the shower cap over my hair.

I have to say, my hair feels lovely. I can feel my scalp tingling, so either it's feeling as if I'm giving it an amazing treat and is doing so in contentment or I'm about to wake up bald in seven hours. We'll see.
