Question Hair Gel that defines 4b or 4c curls!

I love my twist outs and braid outs but for the spring time I was thinking of trying some jels or puddings that can help hold my tiny coils when I attempt to shingle. I was just wondering has anyone tried the Ohm Sweet Hair Pudding or the Donna Marie's Mira Curl Curling Jelly! If so then please let me know what were your results and routine to achieve the style. If not then what gels have you had success in shingling your coils with!

I've never used the two products you asked about, but I have shingled with IC Fantasia w/Sparklites and with AfroVeda Pur Whipped Gelly (before the price increases). I had great results with both.

After I wash my hair I use a leave-in condish or moisturizer (about a dime size) and then shingle on soaking wet hair with the gel. I keep a spray bottle of water handy to keep my hair saturated while I'm shingling. **I must add that sometimes the product will turn my hair white (I think this is from using too much), but it has always gone away as my hair dried.

My favorite gel these days is Ecostyler.

The Donna Marie Mira Curl Curling Gel worked well on the 4b section of my hair. Eco Styler is another good gel for holding curls.

The Donna Marie Miracurling Gelly gives my 4a/4b hair the best definition w/ the best hold (if that makes since). Just about every other gel Ive used (KCCC, Ecostyler,KMF), I could never get consistent results. It would be either too hard or too flaky. This past summer, I had the most awesome WnG ever with Knot Today as leave in & shingling the Miracurling Gelly. I wish I had taken a picture!

I find that I get the best results with homemade flaxseed gel. I sometimes add some oil to the gel.

do you put a conditioner under the flaxseed gel or do you wear it alone?

I normally use a leave in conditioner or moisturising cream under the flaxseed gel.

The last time I defined my curls I used Taliah Waajid's Style and Shine on freshly washed and conditioned hair, I sealed that with an oil and then banded my hair and allowed it to dry.

Once dry, I applied the flaxseed gel section by section smoothing my hair with my fingers - I dont use a brush or comb.

I normally mix 5% castor oil with the flaxseed gel.

I want to try the miracurl but wanted to see if anyone with my hair type had success bf buying an 18 oz. jar. I will try the eco first just to see how this does! Thank you ladies for letting me in on how you get your koils to shingle and what you use!

So the eco does have alchohol that will dry your hair out? I haven't really bought it or had the chance to check it out.

Im thinking that the eco with olive oil does have some type of alcohol in it. I do use it on occasion, but it makes my hair hard and isnt really giving me the results im looking for!
Im hooked on aloe vera! althought, aloe vera doesnt give a great hold. if your hair is extremely thick, then i dont see the point of a gel with "hold" unless you are using it to slick back your edges

I agree with you on needing hold bc my hair does not need help with hold bc it is 4b and 4c too! I think I will try aloe vera gel natural first then the flaxseed bc it is pocket friendly and I can make it. I do want a gel that moisturizes and not leave my hair hard and dry. Thank you for the info.

CoSign on the IC Fantasia! It just feels way more moisturizing than the Ecostyler. I've never tried the Donna Marie Miracurling Gelly, so I will have to look into that. What I am most intrigued with is this flaxseed gel. What is that like? And where do you purchase?

You have to make flaxseed gel. I don't know anyone who sells it. Naptural 85 has a video tutorial on how to make it. I was curious like what's that but this video cleared that up and brought an all natural gel to light. All you need is flaxseeds and essential oils and carrier oils. You can make the recipe your own. I just have been too lazy to try it yet.
