tangle teezer...why does it work?

I know that Amazon is still selling the TT if people are having a hard time getting them in the stores or on the Sally's website.

CurlyNikki just posted an update on her experience with the Tangle Teezer and she said she found a ton of new split ends. Other ladies commented that they got split ends from using it too, as well as short broken off pieces. I wonder if anyone here has had that experience. I still have some heat damaged ends in some spots of my hair so I assumed the smaller pieces of hair in the brush were from that. Now I wonder...

I wonder if the splitting is coming from using the Tangle Teezer on dry hair. I have never, and will never use it on dry hair. I know I definitely don't want "shredded ends".

Time for the "Tangle Teezer Reunion" Thread.

i like the tangle teezer but i still only use it every 7-10 days after i've conditioned and my hair is damp with a creamy leave-in. i think anything done excessively could cause breakage, including using your fingers in your hair too much. i think you have to figure out how to use it for your hair and not use it too much because of the natural of our hair....i hope people that liked this won't jump ship because one of our most favorite bloggers isn't feeling it.

Just tried to tangle teezer on my hair in the shower about a half hour ago, my hair was saturated with water and conditioner. I love this thing! It took me literally 15 minutes to detangle (when it normally takes me about a half hour to 45 minutes). When I first ran the brush through I had to look down at my hair to make sure I hadn't missed it. LOL

and the TT just went thru it with no problem at all ! As for pulling out hair, I lost very little. When I cleaned the TT out I only had enough hair in it to cover a nickel.. a quarter at most & my hair is thick & 4-6" long all over. My bro came in & I showed it to him & he tried it on his dry 4a/b chin beard & moustache. It went thru like nothing ; way better than his present brushes. Now he wants a TT for himself !
The only negative is that it seems to destroy my curl pattern & cause my hair to look like a cotton ball. I'm currently wearing protective 2 strand flat twists so I didn't put in any curl defining products. When I start wearing my 'fro out I may not use the TT but just go straight for the Kinky Curly. Have any of you used a TT,gotten cotton ball hair & then used a curl definer & gotten nice curls?

I just brought a Tangle Teezer last week after debating on it for a long time. When I first saw it I thought no way was this thing gona work so I kept brushing it off, and it looked like it was going to be awkward and uncomfortable to hold.

So I've been searching for tools that are going to be more gentle on my hair because I have "holes" more so at my ends and a few splits which I've been assuming has been coming mostly from the comb. I've only use it once but I'm liking it so far. I didn't hear and snapping cracking just that weird sound it (the TT) makes. And unlike a comb or a Deman it didn't feel like my hair was being pulled at the root I only felt tension in the tangled area, if that makes sense. But that made me very happy. Like a few girls have mention it keeps my hair from re tangling. This TT almost makes me like detangling.

I'm definitely going back for the hot pink one as a back up.
do you know i just realized kinky curly is selling the tangle teezer on their site for 18 bucks lol

@ Luvmylocs, I stopped questioning why it works after the first time I used it I'm just so glad it does lol

These are both out of my way but after reading and seeing almost everyone rave about it, I'm willing to go out of my way to save some money.
Can we talk about the awful promotional video by the inventor of the website? Why do the colored women in the video both have to have weave, the first of which still looks pretty bad to my eye after he brushes it.

The website says you can use it on an afro, and reading this thread yes you can, but why not show as much in the video?
