Look I love dred locs and think they are beautiful but they are not for me right now. I want to enjoy my natural hair in it's present state but a lot of people who have seen my natural hair ask "So you are going to let it lock up"?. Um, just b/c my hair is "nappy" or kinky does not mean I want dreds. So I was just wondering does anyone else have this problem? People who think that just bc you go natural and your hair is kinky that you should get dreds? And they actually ask why not? Um bc I don't wanna, this is my hair, duh!
I got this comment ALL the time when I first BC'd. Now that I have some length & can do more styles, not so much. I love dreds (especially on men, um yeah) but I get bored & thought I could get more versatility with styling. The next time you get this, Flash a big gorgeous smile & say "Nope, Im gonna wear it loose, kinky, grown & sexy".
LOL I get the question, So what are you going to do with your hair , and my answer is always , wear it.

In the winter I get the , oh wow your hair would loc so well , until people touch it. Then its how in the world do you get it so soft , until the spring and then its , how do you get it so curly lol.
I use to get that question all the time. I never wanted locs. I don't like that if you have kinky hair people act like you HAVE to loc it. People do stop asking after a while. I think around five years in the question stopped.

You guys have given me some great comebacks and a good laugh before bed, Thanks!

"Don't look back and ask why, look forward and ask why not!?" - Unk.
I get this all the time! It's so annoying. Not because I dislike dreads, but because people automatically assume that if you're going natural, you're going to get dreads. I don't understand that. Just the other day someone asked me if I'll be getting dreads. When I said "No" the person asked me, "Are you going to get another relaxer?". What the heck? It's like they think that if you're no longer going to relax, then your only option is to loc up your hair. And if you don't plan on doing that, then you'll obviously be getting another relaxer in the future.

Omg yessss. Mine sounds the same way; if I'm not gonna dred it then I must be planning on straightening it soon. Oh, no? Then I MUST be about to get another relaxer...

Yes. I practically shaved my head just so I could straighten it all over again. These people right here...

I've had that asked many times, especially when I first BC'd. Most of them asked what I was going to do with it...Duh, let it grow! The bigger hair the better!

I've been protective stylin for a few months so I've not gotten that question since I'm wiggin it!
Texture: Coarse?; Density: Med (?); Porosity(?? Med-high); Wave pattern: 4B coils

Poo:
Elucence MB
Deep Condish: GVP Conditioning Balm Moisturizer: Qhemets Amla Olive HC
Sealer: QB
Aethiopika Hydrate & Twist (I use this as a styler too)
Stylers: ORS Twist and Lock
(rarely use)

LOL yep. Apparently, certain types of hair shouldn't be let out of the house unless it's lassoed down some kind of way. Often the people who are told that their hair is too kinky to ditch the perm are the same ones who are also told to get locs OR ELSE. dum dum duuuuuuum
I've even seen lockers (online of course!) suggest that anyone with their own type of hair (usually 4b) get locs immediately because that's the only way their hair would grow. side eye.
