ok last night I did two ponytails on each side of my head to sleep, I spritz'd this morning and this part is still here. How in the world do I get it to go away, more ponytails at night?

Did you part your hair down the middle or side in the front? I've found that since I've had to start parting (because my hair flops over anyway), doing multi pineapples doesn't really work because I can't do them on top of my head, I have to do them on the side like you did or I would mess up my part, and my hair will look like yours does in the AM. I've rested the pineapple until I can comfortably do one ponytail. If I'm shooting for second day hair, I'll just use my scarf or my SM hood at night and fluff it out in the morning.

Yeah I parted it down the middle but they rested on each side of my head.
Hmm maybe I should part it horizontally and put one in the top and one in the bottom instead of side to side?

Right - I meant do you part your hair when you style it for the day (not when you pineappled at night)? Pineappling works better if you do them on top and part horizontal (like a mohawk), but if you part your hair to style it, that's going to jack up your part. When my hair was shorter, I didn't part my hair at all, so I could do my pineapple mohawk thingie at night.

No, when I style it at night is how it lays in the morning. I dont have time to do extra parting. I just want to take the ponys down , spritz , shake and go!
I part my hair down the middle and so my bangs are to the left and right ( I hope that makes sense?)

I think the clumping is most common in gels, and usually after your hair has grown a certain length. Gel is pretty good for TWAs, but most naturals I know use it less and less as their hair grew.
The type of leave-in doesn't matter to me, but it does depend on the ingredients or whether or not your hair is wet or dry. Since we're talking wash-n-gos, I can say that Shea Moisture doesn't work well for me at all on wet hair. Water-based leave-ins work better with my styler.
My life is incomplete without a leave-in. I can't style without it - I needs the conditioner in my life for my hair to act right. Currently I use Kinky-Curly Knot Today for definition more so than as a conditioner, and then mix in a little Giovanni Direct Leave-In, and top it off with my Eco Styler.

Ohh okay you're styling at night. Yah try doing it horizontal that crazy back part is a bish to get out and most of the time you have to fluff so much it jacks up any definition back there. Especially if you roll over and end up sleeping on your back.

Can you name some good styler and leave in combinations?
One great combination though is the Qhemet Olive and Honey Hydrating Balm with the Kinky Curly Curling Custard. You'll get 0 crunch and amazingly soft hair!

good name for it! i like the PM best too. I can work around my part or leave some out and pin it in the direction I want, the parts around my face.
I leave my nape out because I don't want it stretched. I've also got these dumb bangs so they're out of the elastic as well.
the side by side bi-napple gives a lot of gap. needs a lot more water and shakeage to cure.

For those of you that use CIAB, do you wait until the other products/stylers have dried a bit before applying the CIAB? I have the frizziest hair ever and because i don't use the shingling method, i have to re-wet my hair with product in it to ensure clumping. Just wondering if CIAB can be the answer to my issues or maybe I need to start shingling things in .

my leave in combo that i love is a mix of a generous amount of Taliah Waajid's Mystic Bodifier (maybe half a cup), 2 tablespoons of Taliah Waajid's Herbal Healing Oyl, and a about 2 quater sizes of Shea Moisture Shea Butter lotion... and the rest is water. all into a nize size spray bottle. ^_^

products: after everything I've tried & loved, I'm now down to just using yes to carrots conditioner. i actually just rub it on my hair while dry, get my hair moisted up with just that, then carefully finger comb/seperate sections of my hair (takes about 15-20 minutes). after that, i hope in the shower, let the water hit and shake-rinse my hair and massage my scalp. once out, i simple let my hair air dry. every now and then, i'll use a diffuser.
btw, pardon my all lower case. i just love 'em.

I WNG basically everyday unless I'm sick.- Why does or do some products make the hair clump together like glue? I noticed it happens more with products that have PVP or carbomer in it but recently it happened with FSG: I've never had any issues with my FSG recipe. I think most gels clump but using certain leave-ins with them could cause a glue like effect if one is to heavy handed.
- Do you find that a clear leave in works best to avoid the whiteness or does it not matter? Doesn't matter. I think it's an ingredient reaction issue. Since I don't really use leave-ins it's not really an issue for me. My oils seem to work fine with anything.
- What leave in conditioner works best with your styler? Creamy leave ins or watery? Any conditioner really since I rinse my conditioner out but I only use either AO, Tresemme Naturals, or Garnier Triple Nutrition. I don't really do "leave-ins" besides a little natural oil. Occassionally, I may leave in a little conditioner and then I apply a natural oil.
- If you diffuse, how long do you diffuse, or have you ever sat under a dryer before? I don't "diffuse" per se but I do occassionally use a blowdryer when in a rush and I've used a gel. I do it for about 15 minutes on low heat moving fast all over my hair in a downward direction. I've never sat under a dryer to dry my hair.
- Have you ever went straight from conditioning your hair to adding your styler, no leave in? Yes, I don't really use "leave-ins" so that is my normal method if I do use a styler (which to me is just gel), but recently I been enjoying Shea Moisture Hair Milk lately as a leave-in.
- Can you name some good styler and leave in en combinations? I noticed that I really like Shea Moisture Hair Milk under FOTEAVG recently. My hair dries very fluffy, soft, with tons of movement and absolutely no crunch. I apply to co-washed hair that's been plopped for 10 mins right out of the shower.

I was trying to protective style more, but all the styles make me look like a three year old so I'm back to WnGs during the day and putting my hair in plaits at night to reduce tangling. Even now though I'm trying not to wash my hair more than twice a week (attempting to do less manipulating)
Why does or do some products make the hair clump together like glue? I have no idea. It might be because if I want a part I'll part my hair in the shower, let the water run over my hair the way I intend on having it look, and then I just put a towel around my shoulders and just let it drip dry. Since I mess with it so little the curls tend to stay better and clump together.
Do you find that a clear leave in works best to avoid the whiteness or does it not matter? Doesn't matter. My hair's got some serious porosity and sucks up anything I put on it, especially when it's dripping wet. I can slather on a milky white leave in, it'll look like there's still residue on my head, but by the time it's dry there's no whiteness to be found.
What leave in conditioner works best with your styler? Creamy leave ins or watery? I don't use any stylers, actually. I just use two different leave ins; usually I'll take some conditioner I co-washed with and run a bit through my hair and follow with an actual leave in, like Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus Milk. Wait, maybe that stuff's a styling product. Eh, I don't really know. I just know that usually if my hair's well moisturized and my ends are healthy, my hair curls up more anyway. So stylers aren't my concern.
If you diffuse, how long do you diffuse, or have you ever sat under a dryer before? I don't have a blow dryer or diffuser. I don't use heat.
Have you ever went straight from conditioning your hair to adding your styler, no leave in? Noooooo. The few times I've tried a styler there's always been two leave ins involved. Leave in conditioners are a MUST for me. They never get skipped.
Can you name some good styler and leave in combinations? I guess eco-styler is ALRIGHT, it just seems like it takes ages to fully wash out my hair, which is why I've just stopped using it. The few times I tried it though I'd use my Shea Moisture hair milk and garnier fructis triple nutrition under it. I don't recommend if your hair tends to get residue on it though.

Thank you!
Naturalista!
Thanks so much for posting these combos. I have coarse/thick low porosity and elascity hair and would like to wash n go.
Over the next few weekends, I'm going to try to perfect the look and these combos will definitely help me. The fact that you have low porosity hair is definitely a plus.
My first experiment will be using CJ products. Wish me luck.

I add it last after whatever styler I'm using & after I spray my hair w/ water (or steam in shower) to refresh.
