Right now I'm loving the ECO Styler Gel with the Olive oil & Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie as a combo. I had problems with crunch and all using the Eco alone but now I've found a good combo. I put coconut oil on freshly washed and conditioned hair. Then I smooth the Eco Styler gel in my hair (in sections) and then add in Shea Moisture's Curl enhancing smoothie on top. Leaves hair white at first but dries shiny. I LOVE IT!!! I get amazing definition and like 6 day hair. to sleep at night I do four big flat twists with the Shea Moisture stuff and in the morning i take them down with the same Shea moisture stuff. My bad hair days are over. I hope it lasts. it's been a good 2 weeks and I'm loving it. Gives great shine too. I wash my hair at night so as to go so sleep with the 4 flat twists. I got the idea of the twist from youtube's sweeteababy0427. the video is called flat twist pattern. I also got the idea of the Eco and Shea Moisture combo from youtube's naturalcurlz86. check them out.

Has anyone consistently put a styler with a slight hold on first and then a heavier hold on top?

I do it with my DM DCC and MCCJ all the time.

Ok thanks Lola, I felt at first maybe i was doing too much?

I'd like to at least get 4-5 days out of my WnG but with just the slight hold , its not kicking it because by the next day its too soft.

I WnG alot, but now I've noticed that KCKT is causing my stylers (Eco styler and komaza coconut pudding) to do that grainy white thing. Has anyone noticed this? Am I not rinsing my RO conditioner well enough? It's really started to annoy me.

i missed this thread the first time around...

some girls here told me about pvp and carbomer gluing the hairs together so i gave that up. i REALLY want to try wash and go's and get them to look good. right now i'm twisting and doing twist outs my hair looks scraggly and i'm thinking a good wash and go routine will help my hair thrive....

so i don't care about hold per se. i can see a super tight curl pattern in my hair, some places there's no definitive curl pattern. i'm ok with both. i also feel like i'm low porosity (product can easily just sit on my hair) and that my individual hair strands are fine (but i have many). here's a pic of my hair the last time i tried to wash and go. i live in a climate that is mostly humid and hot but in the winters we can get in the 40's - 50's but it's not freezing usually. what i want is for my hair to be moist to the touch, fluffy, thick from root to tip (not scraggly at the ends like it can be when i do two strand twists). i also want my hair to not be wet, dripping or white.

it seems i might have been using too much product when i had unsuccessful wash and go attempts before. i can modify that. i also am so torn about gels. i recently ordered the original moxie oasis moisture gel. it's liquidy. i'll try it. i also talked to a girl who swore by they ouidad rake and shake technique. i'm willing to try that method for distributing product through my hair for the wash and go but it seems the ouidad products might be a little risky because they are heavy cone and some folks said over time their hair got hard.

oh this is the forecast for my hair/area. poor girl, look at her face!

anyway, what i was wondering is, given what i want from my look from a wash and go, would a pomade such as the oyin burnt sugar pomade or the berries pomade work over a leave in instead of a gel? how do y'all think it would work for me to rake and shake a leave in through my hair (light application) then scrunch in the pomade on the ends to seal, protect and maybe give weight so it doesn't draw up? any feedback would be appreciated!!!

I never rake cause I will loose way too much hair I just smooth product in and shake when done. If I have places that are too clumped then I will go in and separate them. I just used Oyin BSP over BFN CB and it didn't give me as much weight as a gel would but my hair was really soft. Pomades never give my hair the elongation that many gels do. HTH

first off, you are adorable! your hair looks good!! and your makeup too.

okay what is the bfn cb? i think i could deal with a little less elongation for soft hair. gel just gives me too crispy hair. how do you like how your hair looks with the oyin bsp vs. the gel? do you have a comparison pic?

also, i think you're right about maybe not raking but smoothing. i was looking at cynthiarf's youtube videos for advice on wash n go styling and she basically said the same thing you said and in one of the videos she shows how she smoothed in the product and didn't rake.

Thanks! its bejia flor natural's creme brulee. Right now I am really liking the no gel look. My hair is fine and not dense. When I dont use gel I get denser looking hair which is what I'm into right now. Yes Cyntiarf is one of my sensis, love her! I tried raking but omg the breakage was ridic, smoothing gets the job done on my hair and it also helps it clump IMO.

okay UBERhelpful!!! thank you so much. i think we have similar hair and i really like how your hair looks with the pomade. i might experiment with the gel for an occasional look but i see exactly what you mean about the difference in elongation. thanks girl!!!

Your hair and your hair color are awesome! I hope this is not an intrusive question, but if it is not your natural hair color, would you mind telling me how you got your hair to be that color?

Not intrusive at all lol, It's the result of 2 failed home kit dyes (gariner? and loreal), Manic panic bleach kit using vol 30 developer for 10 mins, then manic panic semi perm infra red and red passion mixed. I henna every month or so to touch up the color. Here's my vid where I talk about it. My Manic Panic (Hair Dye) Experience - YouTube

@LolaKinkz

My hair is not very dense either and I was starting to hate wash & gos because my hair would be super clumped in some areas, and stringy in others. By the time I was done separating my hair, I lost a lot of definition and it was frizzy. I was wondering when you don't use gel, how long does your wash & go typically last?

I haven't stopped using gel completely, but I am using half of what I used to. Today I am going to not use any at all and see what happens. *fingers crossed*
