Product line: As I Am

As I Am Naturally

I recently saw this line on another board (no reviews) and the products are mildly intriguing, but not enough for me to order anything without hearing about it from someone first.

Any thoughts? Experiences? If anything, I like the models they feature on the site...
APL BSL MBL WL HL TBL | porous, fine/medium strands, medium density
My Fotki!
Below: Typical PS bun
The Cleansing Pudding: Clarified & stripped any and everything off my hair, my hair got super tangley eh i didnt like it perfer clays to clarify

Curling Jelly- Very light, does an ok job for WnGs, I have to either shingle it(which I don't like to do ) or pair it with a heavier gel. It has a bit of a crunch. Paired it with KBN butter for an nice twist out. Overall its OK not awesome or anything I wouldn't rebuy.

Coconut Cowash- this is also OK, to me its a good cowashing condish (all I've used it for) has good slip to it but its nothing special and I can't get it on the ground so Treseme Naturals wins out.

I have the leave-in which I haven't tried yet but that probably won't wow me either lol

Well, that answers that question, LOL. I looked at the ingredients and didn't find anything too fascinating. Thanks for the reviews!

Everything Lola said i agree with, i also had the doublebutter cream which i think was like donna maries superbutter cream just a little more dense.

I like the line but not like anything outstanding. I would like to try the deep conditioner though

theres another thread around here though, when i find it i will bump it
I love the coconut cowash, it has great slip and is detangling. I didn't l care for the curling jelly. It seem to make my hair shrink and had a little crunch. But I haven't found a regular gel yet that hasn't left my hair crunchy. So I do think it's better than other gels I've tried cause it didn't leave it as crunchy as others. It also didn't leave my hair stringy looking like most gels. I like the smoothing gel for my edges when I don't feel like using a butter. It doesn't leave my hair crunchy. Also I like it cause it's very light, doesn't feel like I'm putting on gel. I love the leave-in conditioner. It reminds me of Koils By Nature leave-In. It's very creamy and light. To me it's moisturizing and has slip, and detangles.

I have the Double Buttercream...had it actually. I gave it away. Nothing special...AT ALL. I was kinda disappointed. I didn't like the smell, which was nothing like "coconuts" to me.

I have a friend who used the twist defining creme and her hair looked awesome. It was the shiniest and hydrated I've ever seen it.

I have some of the stuff on the way and it'll be the 1st goodies I try when I take these braids down.

I saw this line a long time ago, i think i actually posted something on NC about it. I personally feel like if you're not an all natural type person it could be a great option for products. The prices are near what i paid for perm products, plus i was a fan of avlon products when relaxed because it was very science based. I actuallly love teh fact that they are applying that same science to natural hair (disclaimer, i am an engineer so that whole science piece does something for me :-) I actually sent in a question to their website for them to feature on the site...still weighting on the answer to post, but I am considering some of their products.

I have the twist defining cream and love it! My hair was so soft and moist! I tried to shingle it in one small part for the sake that you can... it looked nice but I don't like having a wavy hair.

I used it with qhemet's burdock root butter cream as a leave-in. My hair was almost overly moisturized but defined. It had monsoon rained here for a couple of days. I don't think I had ever had hair so soft and defined without being oily. I had to wash my hair so could style it for a wedding I was in on Sat. My hair was so moist from before I didn't have to deep condish.

Without a leave-in my hair was still soft and moist but more defined. I had never seen my hair that defined without a gel. At the wedding and after when we went out for dinner I received so many complements about the look and the smell.

Here are some photos from when I took it done the on Sat. The wedding photos my hair looked a little fuzzy since it was 95 degrees with 80% humidity in a forest.

As I am in a great product line. Having tried several other lines that are good like Shea Moisture and Miss Jessie's and Quidad and some others that I just did not like and returned, I must say that I absolutely would recommend As I am. First off the products are extremely affordable. The coconut co-wash is 16 oz for only $8.00 while other lines would cost about $30-$50 for that size. It smells better than most other products I've tried and it really moisturizes and does as it indicates. I have tried in addition to the co-wash- the leave in conditioner, the twist defining cream and the cleansing pudding. I am about to try to the curl clarity shampoo and reorder some twist defining cream. I took a chance on this line as it was new and it paid off. Most of my friends that are natural have never heard of it either but its worth a try.
At one time As I am offered free samples if you paid the shipping. I loved the twisting cream and liked the cleansing pudding. Everything else i either didnt like or didnt like as well as other products. I still have the smoothing jelly sample.

Sally's is now carrying this line in some stores and online.

I tried the samples. I gave some of them away due to the protein. The things that I tried were okay but not enough to make me want to purchase.
