Question List of best defining products for thick 4a/3c hair. No gels...

Okay, so I'm not into the gel thing because I don't want to have that " I have product in my hair and I have to wash it out soon feel." Only gel does that to me, btw, I consider KKC a gel, not a custard as decribed. Moving forward, I want to know what cremes/serums or other products that give BANGING curl definition. Even if it's a three step, the shampoo, the condition combo, let me know!

Lol.. I have thick hair. I don't know how porous it is, I just know that permed or natural I have gotten "My, your hair is thick. That's good though." Like a negative compliment all in one, haha.

So.. So far I have written down (from searching on here) Komaza Califa pudding, Donna Marie Dream Curling Creme, and Miracurls (Don't know if they are the same.) I also wrote down Organics Curl Keeper, and Nanni Curling Custard (although that might be a gel/gel like.)
I am not sure if these work, but once I am off this site and perhaps get a few comments on this, I will look into the top reasons. Oh, btw, a youtuber recommended redken ringlet 07, I don't know how good that is either. Two other products from a group I am in, It's a 10 hair styling serum for $24.50, and Calling all curls by Devacurls, $19.45. Those are both serums.

So if there is anyone with personal experience with these or others that they can add, please tell me.
1. Which products work best for you?
2. How long does the curl definition last?
3. Can you use with other products already in your hair such as oil?
4. Cost, and the size of the product for the price you paid?

I have to make the order asap. I have no conditioner, and the shampoo I have right now is drying, no sulfate, no cones is a plus.
THANNNNNKS!

I am in love with Dees My Curlz Pudding by Sophia K Essentials that does not leave my hair with any product feeling at all and gives great hold shine and definition. Also Curls Gel'les-c and The Whipped Cream are among my favorites. For braidouts I like the Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque but that can feel like a ton of build up if you use too much. I also like giovani smooth as silk condish as a leave in/styler.

i vote for Donna Marie Dream Curling Cream. It definitely shines defines curls, but I use a gel on top b/c it really does not have too much hold. I also used a leave in, but in the future, will try it just with gel. It seems fairly moisturizing.BTW, the Miracurls is a gel, so if you don't like them, you may wanna steer clear of that....

Vigorol Curls Curling Cream, Curl Junkie Coffee Coco Curl Cream. These 2 are very similar in effect.

I use avocado butter to define my curls. My hair stays soft and I don't get that annoying crunchy hair.

I just wanted to throw out there...if you attempt to order anything from naani shoppe or from grandma's kitchen you will just be wasting your money. They never deliver product and tons of complaints have been filed with the BBB for them.

Thanks. I did not end up finding their products and I started to lean towards the Donna Marie creme. Still looking though.

I will look into the Sister Smith pudding. After hearing about the AFroveda uproar I don't think I'll buy from her, BUT I am not 100 percent. It's different when you werent a customer prior to the price hike.

Aloe vera juices from the actual plant, no I dont consider that a gel. The aloe vera gel I consider a gel, lol.

OOO.... I just checked out sister girls, and her stuff is rather cheap so I am making a small order. Getting the conditioner, and the pudding in 8 oz size. So at least if it doesn't work I don't have a whole bunch left. I am still going to buy the donna marie though. I was looking at vids on youtube, and now I'm confused... because ALTHOUGH I dont like gel, the miracurl looked great on someone. Sighh.. It's a fight because it seems that gels give the strongest or best curl definition, but I don't like producty feel! The coco cream is a bit pricey for an 8oz. jar. Lawd, I don't want to be a product junkie.. Hehehe.

I use hair conditioner as I mentioned in a bunch of other threads, as a defining substance.

Well I'm not their spokesperson lol but I wasn't a customer prior to the "uproar" and the prices (compared to lines other than Sister Smith ) are quite cheap!

But the Wet Set Pudding works almost exactly the same for me! My style lasts for a couple days less but the products so much cheaper that I don't mind using it twice as often. Good luck!

It was really a shame about her because I actually liked her products. That little two step process really worked well for me.

As for your request I did like Darcy's Curling jelly it is not really a gel and I used to use it with the Madagascar Vanilla styling creme.

I decided to try the afroveda if the donna marie that I ordered doesn't work.
