^^^ No, I thought about trying ground flaxseeds, but I don't eat cereal or oatmeal (other than handful of Cheerios in the morning!). My doctor suspected a Vitamin D deficiency in me because that is a common cause of missed periods and mood swings/depression. He messed up my lab sheets, though, so I won't take the Vit. D test until July. I wouldn't think I'd have that, though, since I get a lot of dairy in my diet and I take a mulitivitamin. Cinnamon is supposed to help with anxiety, but I haven't noticed anything.

There are hair growth oils, besides castor oil, that can aid with hair growth. For instance, emu oil has been known to lengthen the growing phase of the hair cycle. Also, rosemary oil can stimulate hair follicles to grow. Carrot oil fights breakage, and as we all know, our fragile 4b hair needs to be strengthened against breakage.
Hope this helps!

Eh. I just take a vegetarian multivitamin (doesn't have dyes/animal by products/other additives), but that's mainly because I'm in college and my diet consists of pizza, pasta and the freezer aisle (but there's veggies there! Right? ...RIGHT?!) But they do seem to help my hair grow/help me retain length.
I noticed the more I started to not really pay attention to it, the more my hair seemed to grow. It's growin, don't worry.

Yep. This is true now more than ever for me.
*****************************
On another note, I chopped my hair off maybe like two weeks ago, and now after taking MSM, biotin, and my multivitamin daily, my hair seems like it's on a healthy start! & that dear castor oil has appeared to make my hair so thick and soft that the denman can't even go through it. As a matter of fact, I put it in a headband yesterday, and it looks like how it did before I cut it off -- That shrinkage has my mind playing tricks on me ...
People can say that 'hair grows no matter what' all they want, but I know for a fact that hasn't been the case with me. Our diets are not the same as they used to be 40-50 years ago. The food, the water, everything has changed, plus motherhood changes your body chemistry sometimes too, so people, take a deep breath and try a vitamin or a liquid vitamin or a growth aid if you feel like it. It gives your body the jumpstart it needs and fills in the missing gaps in your diet. It's most likely good for something else in your entire body too!

Oh, totally. If it helps, do it. BUT BUT BUT, make SURE you research which vitamins are the best for you. I can't tell enough stories about all the additives that go into them along with other chemicals not mentioned and not the amount of a vitamin it tells you, because multivitamins don't have to be FDA approved to be sold. Make sure it has a sticker somewhere on it telling you it's "USP Verified". I cannot emphasize that enough. Haha

I've been using the Hair, Skin, Nail vitamins from gnc. They really do work. It's help clear up my skin and my nails grow super fast. Now as for hair I have noticed an increase in growth everywhere. Now I mean everywhere I have to shave more often and me being a hairy person already, I have to keep the facial hair in check.

I think some growth aides work. in my experience the GNC Nourishair definitely boosts growth and I seem to to have noticeable thickening by taking a 5g biotin daily. Prior to these two products I did not believe in growth aides. They didn't work in my opinion. Some believe that if a hair vitamin is working it may be because of a vitamin deficiency of some sort and the vitamin is just providing you with what you should have anyway. Anyhow, vitamin deficiency or not these two supplements work for me. I've also been more gentle with my hair so the length retention helps.

CRAZY!
I'm not a 4b but this crazy thing happened:
Okay so earlier this month I saw that my longest layer was an inch from apl.
I started using castor oil. After a week, I started to get weary from it and checked and saw I was about 1/2 to 1/4 from apl. Now (two weeks later) I opened a fortune cookie saying: "Star light, star bright. Your wish will come true tonight". I said yeah, so I'm gonna be at apl? Turns out I checked and I was. Was it a coincidence? Did I miss calculate before? Was it the castor oil? Was it the cookie? Idk but if it continues like this than I will reach my goal in 2-4 months!
CRAZY, right?
