Garnier Pure Clean Line
So, I spied this "Pure Clean" line and was pleasantly surprised that the conditioner and styling agents were CG. I bought em and wanted to share my initial thoughts and also expand on Shawny's thread re: the gel.
So.. today I tried the
1. Pure Clean Fortifying Conditioner as a LI/detangler
with
2. The Pure Clean Smoothing Cream
Ingredients
1. Conditioner: Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Distearoylethyl hydroxyethyammonium methosulfate, octyldodecanol, fragrance/parfum, apple fruit extract, corn starch, camelina sativa oil, apricot kernel oil, soybean oil, tocopherol, caprylyl glycol, benzoic acid, niacinamide, pyroxidine hcl, caprylic/capric triglyceride, linalool, hexyl cinnamal, citric acid, sugar cane extract, lemon peel extract, camellia senesis extract, acerola fruit extract.
2. Smoothing Creme: Water, Beeswax, Isopropyl Myristate, Cetearyl Alcohol, glycerin, Sorbitol, glyceryl stearate SE, Benzyl alcohol, caprylyl glycol, cetyl esters, hydroxypropyl guar, acacia senegal gum
Claims
1. Conditioner: This "ULTRA-CLEAN" system , infused with Acerola Berry Antioxidant , provides the ultimate daily refreshment with no heavy residue and weightless shine.
2. Smoothing Cream: 98% naturally derived smoothing cream for all day frizz control with zero heaviness. How it works? Acacia Gum is used around the world for its natural holding properties. These natural ly-derived formulas provide ultra clean hold and pure styling performance.
Ok, so now to break it down:
Conditioner
Color: opaque
Smell: Apples
Consistency: Pictures below, but its medium consistency, like hairveda's whipped gelly IMO
Slip level (scale 1-10): 6
Detangling ease: I detangled after taking down a 4 day old twist out. I didn't struggle at all.
Moisture level (scale 1-10): 6.5
Is softness conferred: yes
Shine conferred: Yes
Absorbancy: Absorbed after 5 mins (and I'm low porosity)
So, as soon as I applied this to my hair is shrunk up. For me, that means my hair in general is happy with the moisture level/formulation. My hair felt soft and seaweedy after application so detangling was pretty easy. My frizz levels were cut in half as well after applying it. There was no weighdown or whitehead/filmy look to my hair.
Smoothing Cream
Color: White (like sunscreen)
Smell: Like sunscreen
Consistency: Like sunscreen (pics below alone, with me rubbing it into skin)
Slip level (scale 1-10): 4
Moisture level (scale 1-10): 7
Hold level: light/flexible
Softness conferred: yes
Shine conferred: yes
Absorbancy: at first I had whitehead b/c of the consistency but in mins as I was diffusing it dissipated.
Agent type: clumping (vs. separating)
Frizz control: Pretty damn good
Defines: Yes
Curl enhancer: No
Movement: YES... plenty
Bounce: Yes
Volumizing: No
Now, I was really skeptical about this b/c beeswax is like the 2nd ingredient but this is a very nice cream that defined and held my curls just enough to have movement and bounce to spare. The cream is a real cream though, so a little goes a long way. I almost thought I was going to have whitehead but my hair surprised me by sucking it up. I only added a dime size of the gel to the canopy for insurance, but I didn't need to.
Prelim verdict: My hair is happily cheap. I'm gonna sleep on it and see what happens in the AM and into my 12hr work day.
Now, pics!!!!
Anyway, let me know your thoughts, and for those who have these products-- sound off!

Let me know how it works in the morning, I would like to try the conditioner and the cream.
Im surprised by the gel, its like a cross between KCCC and Eco styler Gel. It has the hold of Eco but I have a feeling if it were more humid outside, it would lean towards KCCC.
I love the pictures!!

Thanks! I really love your pic at the bottom. Is this with the Jane Carter CDC?
See I only used a dime at the top and its super soft. I'm doing a head shake right now and there's no wig head!!!

Hey Nat:
Have you tried Loreal's Eversleek line? I actually like the shampoo and the leave-in was decent too.

I've been using the conditioner off and on for two weeks now and my results are the same as yours, Naturlista. Very nice softness and moisture from something so inexpensive.

24 HRS LATER as promised...
The Smoothing Cream delivered in IMO. Even in the face of sleeping on it the night before, plus HIH syndrome, plus the windy day. The dewpoint is 17 where I am
Now, the only thing I would say is that the conditioner after a day , if I planned to wear my hair like this a second day, I would need to use moisturizer to support it (vs. my other richer conditioners that I don't need to do that until day 3 or 4). Not bad for drugstore.
Now pics! Forgive my tiredness. I've only slept 8 hrs out of the last 48.

Ok so the smoothing cream alone is the bomb! The Fortifying Conditioner is a decent cowash/rinse out.
I would highly recommend this line to anyone wanting affordable products on ground

Yay! I'm so glad people aren't sleeping on the pure clean line. It is by far one of my favorite lines out there right now.
I love how moisturizing the products are, even if they're for "normal" hair.

I just seen an ad for this pure clean line and was thinking of trying it but now I know I'll be trying it thanks to this review. Thanks for being so thorough Naturalista!
