ACV wonders

how great is ACV?

Dang, finally someone who has used or tried Curlaway!!

So what you do now is just an ACV treatment?
How do you do that? Do you notice any differences between that and the curlaway?

I tried an ACV rinse once, but it made my scalp sting and burn badly... so I just chalked it up to my inexperience, and started using curlaway.

I'd really like to hear what you did and how you did it. & yes, my hair is also shinier, detangled and softer!

Blessings!

Sounds like a good treatment. I love ACV rinse too but I usually use Komaza's Herbal Tea Rinse. I will have to try this method out! Sounds like it will leave my hair soft and shiny but alot cheaper. Thank you!

However the results were still great!

I know you didn't ask me how I do mine but I thought I'd throw my 2cents in lol. I try to keep my hair reggie as simple as possible. So I just use braggs organic acv and pour it into a spray bottle (you know the actual ones that have a pump spray handle) & cover it about a 1/4 of the way. Then I fill the rest of the way w/water, give a shake and spray on my hair AFTER I wash, condish, detangle & deep treat & let it sit on my hair for 10 to 20mins. I then rinse w/cool water & I'm done.

My hair is always easier to detangle & has a natural shine to it & the curls are always more defined. I do this routine every other week after I co-wash. I also noticed that compared to the beginning of my HHJ when my hair used to itch all the time, the only time my hair begins to itch is when go over my week washing mark which I very rarely do.

i have 4b/3c hair.

curlaway works. it did make my hair softer and shinier and easier to detangle when i left it in my hair for 1 hour. i never tried an overnight treatment.

my ACV treatment is to mix 1/4 cup raw organic ACV with 1/4 cup of water. then i add 1 1/3 tbsp of pure corn flour (also called corn starch). mix. heat for one minute to thicken it to a conditioner like consistency. i coated all of my hair with it. waited 10-20 mins then rinsed with cool water. put conditioner in my hair for 5 mins then rinsed with cool water, to keep hair soft. i like this because it makes my hair soft, shiny and detangled.

however i think curlaway works better than ACV. But the ACV treatment takes less time & is cheaper.

i alternate DC treatments with curlaway/ACV treatments. some people DC after an ACV treatment.

my 3c hair is more obvious now than it used to be before using these products.

I posted in my blog about this video on Youtube where I believe the poster used the acv pretty much the same way you all do -- Curlaway Update and ACV Video! | Crown MB

Also, I haven't had much luck trying to google 'peg 400 monostearate', which is one of the ingredients in curlaway, but I'm torn because it doesnt seem too harmful, but it might not be a good look healthwise, so now it's off to get a spray bottle. Yeah!

WOW! I can have "good hair" now? I can go from "4c" to "3c"? Look at that!

I don't understand why some people have to make others feel bad for what they do to their hair. Come on now.... These forums should be about supporting each other instead of tearing people down for their hair choices.

I'm sorry but I had to say something.

I have counselled a lot of people who suffer from depression because of their hair so I am very sensitive about this issue.

Now I think I know why the 4b board is so quiet. People might be afraid to post their experiences because they are afraid of being mocked and ridiculed.

And if you mean counsel in a casual setting, there still is a larger issue at hand. Either way if someone is depressed about their hair, nothing anyone said (good or bad) outside of that persons head is going to change that.

Also 4b's might not be drawn to this site as much as they are to Np.com whenever I pop in over there, there is an overwhelming amount of happy 4bs posting. They may eve be the majority hair type over there. And it might be worh notinh a thread like this would not fly over there. They would chew you up, spit you out, and then possibly even ban you.

Lastly, if someone is interested in altering their texture on a regular basis (which I now understand is what curlaway claims) then they tend to post on the BKT, straightening/straightening relaxing, or on a different forum all together because this site doesn't have a depth of info on that topic.

I posted a whole thread about one girl this happened to in the Hall of Shame section

Depression over hair? Yep, I can see that. But it ain't because somebody clowned on you, for posting a topic on how to have "Good Hair", without spending $20 on a jar of "Curl Banish", or whatever that stuff is called.

Please, people.

And for the record I never said that I agreed with promoting the use of Curlaway. I have my opinions on the subject, but I will keep them to myself.
