OT: make up and girly girl stuff

MAC Raizin is a great blush for WOC too, but it's a bit too dark for me! So I have to apply lightly. I do love MAC Eversun too. It's very nice

I loved the loreal HIP liquid foundation... I was so burnt that they disc'd it! The yellow undertone range rocked for me. Revlon colorstay is weird ..too beigy and too red.

I really need to step up my exfoliation and sunblock. No matter what makeup I have, if my skin is jacked( muddy reddish uneven) its impossible to get a truly decent foundation match. Yeah my face will be the color of the makeup but my neck and chest are on a totally different page/shade. The base that sorta matches areas of my face looks weird and too dark. Otoh, one that matches my neck and chest is too light for the darker parts of my face. Does anyone else have this problem?

I've been focusing on hair so much that I've kinda slacked on skincare. Since having children, my facial skin has been freaky unless I'm really focused. Maybe it's an aging thing too? I only glow with clockwork facials and peels but the skin on my body is fine.

Apologies for ramblosity!

So folks...I want to try wearing foundation again. I honestly hate it but it keeps me from touching my face (acne thing boo). I wanna know how you find the right color. I was using Maybelline Pure Makeup in Caramel/dark2 but I can't find it anywhere. Its liquid in a light greenish tube. I tried a new liquid foundation that have now but the color does not match. its lighter and made me look ashy. The darkest shade doesn't match either. Any tips? Oh, and that liquid stuff makes me look shiny. Is that normal? Lol I don't have oily skin :P

Flip flop season is upon us (almost). I heart flip flops but I hate painting my toes because the freakin polish is all chipped by day 2. Grr!!! So, is there a brand that you have tried that lasts more than 4 days? I hear OPI is all the rage but what about Essie? I'm reluctanct to spend $7 on a tiny bottle of polish but if its worth it I'm so there.

Beach bodies! What is your workout routine? I know how to lose jiggle but gaining defined (visible) muscle has been a miss. I dislike being skinny-fat. Right now I'm chunky do to several injuries and not working out. Just got back to it three weeks ago. How's your diet? I need to eat more fruits and veggies but...meh. I don't like fruit (except tomatoes).

Otherwise you end up buying stuff that doesn't match unless you're lucky. Try a liquid or mousse if you don't have oily skin. If you don't have oily skin (most people with acne do) and are still shiny with the liquid, you're maybe putting on too much? Or you can try a primer underneath. You can also check out Sephora and try Bare Minerals, I absolutely love it. Makes you look natural, though it can get a bit messy and you have to use a kabuki brush to apply. I sell Avon/mark, and I'm currently using Avon's Magix Cashmere line. Very light, natural, has spf, it's a mousse form in a squeezable tube. I apply it with my fingers. If you're not a makeup person and just want ease, go with a compact format that has the puff inside. They make minerals like that now, less mess and more easy to use. Aim for something with SPF. I started getting tired of the matte look years ago so I started using more natural looking products. I use MAC's liquid concealer, Select Moisturecover. I have dry skin and need moisture. mark has a concealer that clears acne at the same time that maybe you can look into, it's called Save the Day Anti-Acne Concealer Stick, it has salicylic acid in it. We can take this offline if you want, message me.

Here's my FB makeup page that needs some serious updating:

As for nailpolish, my new HG is Sally Hansen's Salon Effect nail polish strips! They aren't stickers, they are actual nail polish strips and when you open the sealed package you'll smell that. Anyway, the trick is to apply to your finger nails and RIGHT away (because it starts to dry up when air hits it), use the rest on your toes! No topcoats, no drying. I did that for my vacay/cruise and it looked professionally done, a mani/pedi for $9.99 and about 20mins out of your life. It lasts 10 days. Actually, it's still on my toes and aside from the new-growth, it looks fine. I put it on on March 20th, lolll. Toenail polish always lasts longer for obvious reasons.

I can't help on the nail polish, I usually do multiple coats and it still chips bleehh

Working out, ugh I'm a lazy bum...I'm a vegetarian but I've been pigging out a lot lately, I was thinking about doing the Zumba thing...that sounds interesting!

LITTLE JOEY HAS A SIBLING ON THE WAY!
Another MUA here. I'm a yellowy olive color and I haven't found a Mac shade to match me yet. I should explore the C-line more though.

For yellowy olive tones, Becca is the best I've found so far. Valana Minerals is also good. I'd go with Valana over Bare Minerals any day, and Valana is WOC-owned.

I used to like Bobbi Brown until Estee Lauder bought her out (Lauder owns Mac too) and she changed her formulas/colors.

As far as drug store brands go, Loreal True Match is purty doggone good.
No MAS.

I am the new Black.

I second Coastal Scents. You can get an 88 palette for like $20. I got the warm one since I prefer neutral colors on my eyelids.

I don't want to sound like a makeup snub, but please get your foundation from a better brand!

To the OP, this is my face with FULL makeup. Click.

I'm wearing more foundation than I usually wear and I'm wearing cheap eyeliner since my other one dried out. Going to buy some Fluidline Blacktrack soon though!

I'm wearing:
MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation SPF15(applied heavier for self-portrait)
MAC concealer (BTW, I'm an NC but my concealer is a NW).
Nyx B52 (that broke! Off to buy Twig...)
IDK what eyeliner
MAC Eversun Blush
Colossal Volum mascara, but it's old :S
Brown eyeshadow for eyebrows

I do really love Eversun. It's very subtle and girly on me I think. Kinda of that blushing look. Anyway...

Get out of your safe zone! Try new things!
To a make up counter I shall go...lol!

I'm one who prefer bronzer too. Since I prefer not to have foundation, I use some sort of transulent powder most of the time.

I wear:

MAC powdered bronzer in "Golden Bronze"
Stila All Over Shimmer #3
Bare Essentials Tinted Mineral Veil (been my staple for years)

#2 I've done well with Zoya nail polishes with their Zoya Armor Top Coat over it. Before I polish, I make sure all oils are off my toe nails.

#3 I'm pretty consistent with my routine though I do give myself a rest day or even a part of a week once in a while. I do HIIT cardio and weight training most days of the week. I also do a lot of stretching. I would love to add Yoga to the mix too, but I would need more time for that. My diet is pretty low-carb, high veggie, no processed food, lots of water, good fats, etc.

So I went to Sephora last night, to do an exchange and to look for more deeper color foundations for WOC. First I noticed they changed the freaking layout in the one I go to and I hate that, I like being consistent, so I knew I had to hurry because an anxiety attack was forming.

I checked out Benfits, Ummm, no. I looked at NARS, mmehhhhh, the selection was ok but wasn't impressed and I was before, their deeper shades were gone. I looked at MAKEUP FOREVER, didn't see any nice deep colors. Then I saw a male makeup artist trying on stuff and I was like YES! I learn more from the guy MUA than the women, he had to get on his freaking knees to pull the deeper colors out of the bottom and the back of the display. Yeah I was really upset by that. He told me that not too many WOC come in looking for foundation and that since MAC was in the same mall that's where most WOC shop for foundation. I understood the philosophy but was really upset by this. I looked around the store and saw a Hispanic MUA, and 2 other Black MUA, along with the male Black MUA and was still amazed by what he was telling me. I pretty but just grabbed two random glosses, did my exchange, and headed out. I had a babysitter and this was my night to go do what I wanted and play with makeup. I was so pissed that I had to just leave the store.

I went down to the MAC counter and saw my hommie Erica, we use to work together at a different MAC counter. I told her what had happened and what I noticed over at Sephora and she wasn't surprised. Mind you that I worked at that Sephora for 3 months when they first opened, they tried to push me to be the head of perfumes and I wasn't feeling it so I left. She said that yeah, most of the WOC come here to us and we get more of the business because whoever is putting the WOC stuff on display over at Sephora is losing out. I was still a little taken back. All I can think of is maybe it's because of demographics, this mall is near the beach, but still. I went to Sephora in Vegas and Beverly Hills and saw darker shades offered before. Maybe becasue I do most of my shopping online and not at the store is why I'm a lil late seeing the darker shades being excluded in store...

Now what I am going to do is head to Santa Monica, another Beach City Store and see what's up over there. I'm going to Lush this weekend anyway and I will just stop at that Sephora and see if this is going on there too.
