Sooo, is Sephora leaving out darker shades on purpose or are the losing sales because the darker shades aren't prominently displayed? O_o

I know Sephora is a Louis Vutton owned company and is made to be a boutique. They don't cater to the Art of Makeup, where as Mac and Makeup Forever does. They are still building and trying out new things/comapnies. But I don't think they are about the Art or creative experssion through makeup.

So I can't say anything for sure yet until I know more. Just my observation at that one store was a lil dishearting. Going to start looking a lil more closley now when I go to these boutique style stores and also when I go to IMATS this June, I will see which brands have more options and where those richer colors are sold more. I get to askthese companies tons of questions face to face at IMATS so it's going to be at the top of my list.
Oh no... Et tu Sephora?

These makeup stores need to understand that when they do things like this, it really turns off a lot of customers. Just like my experience with Clinique--I refuse to buy their products now because in this time and age, you're telling me you can't make dark tan foundation?! I wanted a specific foundation to battle dry skin and it was only for the lighter folks. Sets me off TBH!

There's only a 6% Black population in my city and the last time that I went to a Sephora, she put on the DARKEST foundation that she could find. Yea, OK. I am Black, but we all aren't the same shade!

I think that I'm so afraid of getting angry again, that I just stick to MAC; they've always been helpful anyway, so I never have any complaints.
I forgot about Illimasqua. Check them out for darker shades. They have from near White to near Black.

I'm one who prefer bronzer too. Since I prefer not to have foundation, I use some sort of transulent powder most of the time.

I wear:

MAC powdered bronzer in "Golden Bronze"
Stila All Over Shimmer #3
Bare Essentials Tinted Mineral Veil (been my staple for years)

#2 I've done well with Zoya nail polishes with their Zoya Armor Top Coat over it. Before I polish, I make sure all oils are off my toe nails.

#3 I'm pretty consistent with my routine though I do give myself a rest day or even a part of a week once in a while. I do HIIT cardio and weight training most days of the week. I also do a lot of stretching. I would love to add Yoga to the mix too, but I would need more time for that. My diet is pretty low-carb, high veggie, no processed food, lots of water, good fats, etc.

I worked for corporate at one time (located in SF) and I think the issue with formula color, brands, etc is regional. If you went to the main flagship store in San Francisco or NYC, you would not have an issue. The smaller stores where I live now are troublesome for me which is why I'm forced to stick to shopping at sephora.com instead of in the stores.

I don't wear makeup often bc of my acne, but i use MAC exclusively for my foundation (skin finish) for winter and mineral makeup for summer. I almost always do my eyes, and my palettes come from MAC, NYX, or Urban decay. Occasionally I will have a drugstore adventure if I see a cute shade. I'm a lip gloss/tint girl over lipstick the majority of the time, but if I'm doing lipstick, matte finishes are best.

I'm surprised that some are saying that they cannot find WOC friendly shades with Clinique and Sephora. In my area, I don't ever really have a problem with this. I haven't bought makeup in a while so maybe its a new thing....

Mineral makeup can sometimes be even harder to match up, especially dealing with these smaller companies. There's so many of them, it reminds me of all these small time hair care lines coming out.

I wholeheartedly agree with montREALlady when she said that you have to be a makeup junkie in order to find what works sometimes!

I don't do foundation cause I can never find something that matches me so I do blush and bronzer and I love the result.

Essie is good, I find that the newer colors REALLY last. The trick is to use a base, I love OPI nail envy and I do two coats. I do OPI topcoat which I loved more than the sally hansen one.

I'm also down 12 pounds and 3 inches off my waist! I've given up a LOT of sugar, stayed away from meat, tried to do vegan/vegetarian meals most of the time.

If I do have a sweet or am planning a trip to starbucks on my day off then I won't have anything else sweet for the whole week.

Soda is too sweet for me now, cause I've been drinking either water, green tea or this DELISH aloe vera drink called alo. I like the pomegranate one.

I got my ass up and moving too lol. I go for walks on my breaks at work, ride my bike on my day off, alternate crunches and push ups with stuff with my dumb bells everyday.

The trick is to go little by little. When you start seeing results then it's more of a motivation.

I think it's interesting that so many of disappointed with Sephora. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sephora. I only use baremineral makeup on my face. I use all the different brushes to get different coverage. I've been using it since 2007 and since then Bare minerals has come out with sooo many shades for women of color. At the time, the colors in the starter kit didn't really do it for me, but since then I have found my exact shade and love it. I'm a dark skin woman and I used to use NW40/45 from MAC, if that makes it clear.

Sephora never disappoints, Mac foundations break me out.
Well as far as foundation I am in love with Bobbi brown they are awesomeeeeeeeeeeee expensive but awesome I have there foundation stick and it looks like I have nothing on. Plus its so light weight my boyfriend hates me to wear make up but he loves this stuff. www.bobbibrown.com check it out

Make-up: I am a former Mac Girl. Then, my Dear Mother gave me Bare Minerals as a Christmas present back in 2008. I like the light-weight texture, and the natural appearance. I was color-matched at the Bare Escentuals boutique. So, I think that to have a personal make-up session with a trained make-up artist is the best way to go.

Nails: Unfortunately, unless one has beautiful, natural nails, sans polish, they really need to be polished if one is going to wear sandals, etc. during the summer. I get professional manis and pedis. My nail tech uses OPI and Essie polishes, and different base and top coat products, depending on the needs of my nails at the time.

Exercise: The best exercise for me is walking, and particularly on a treadmill. I find that I get the quickest fat/calorie burn in 35 minutes, and can workout regardless of the weather.

Well,

Walgreens has CG on sale so I got foundation, eyeshadow, mascara, and concealer for $19. I figured I play with some cheap stuff to keep me entertained until I go to the mall to get shade-matched for the pricey stuff.

I've never tried make up because of my acne but I have been thinking about mineral make up lately. I'm learning a lot reading everyone's comments. I really want to get in to wearing eye shadow but I don't know were to start. Right now all I wear are glosses mostly MAC. I love shine.

I've recently got in to wearing polish again and doing my own manis & pedis. If you Google nail stamping you can do some cute professional looking nails at home and it's easy. I always get complements on them. I mostly wear essie and Zoya. I like OPI and China Glaze too. Definitely check out Zoya's FB page they do lots of giveaways and good promos. I just got my Earth Day order today which was half off each bottle. I get the most wear out of Zoya (at least a week if I didn't take my polish off on hair wash day it'll go a little longer) you usually only need 2 coats I use essie feed me base coat, Seche Vite top coat, and essie's good to go top coat on my toes (it peels when I use it on my fingers) but it's super shiny if you like that. Also painting the tips/top of the nail extends wear too.

You can tell this is a new obsession of mines.

Oh yeah @ Rite Aid all polishes are BOGO 1/2 off.
