Seeing a Dermatologist

I can't believe I am going to do it, but I am going to a dermatologist. I am convinced I have scalp damage from the years of relaxing. I have been natural for over five years and there is on section of my hair no matter what I do it will not cooperate with me. I have had two professional blowout since being natural while the black stylist just asked what happened, the white stylist actual said may be I should see a doctor. She said my scalp may be damaged. She couldn't understand based on the fact the rest of my hair was in great condition (her words not mine) why this spot was so short. Anyone else experienced this? Did you see a professional and what was the outcome?

UPDATE: If anyone cares. I am so excited to say I am NOT losing my hair, but the doctor did say that it seems the hair will grow, but lack of blood flow makes it break off as fast as it grows. She has prescribed two topical prescriptions, but she has no doubt it will come back. She said the scalp area is healthy there. She was also a 4A natural so it felt really cool to have someone the understands.

I had scalp issues in the past due to relaxers but in terms of excessive flaking and dried scalp buildup. However when I started to use the coconut oil it vanished.
I mean, there's no harm in seeing a derm so knock yourself out.
But can you explain that section in more details? Is your only issue that it is shorter than the rest of your hair? What does the scalp itself look like? Does that section hurt in terms of soreness or what??

So this is the spot in question. I don't know if I am permanently ruined, but it just hurts that the lovely "creamy crack" did this to me.

Hm... My roommate has that, but thats due to tight box braids, it ripped her hair out. But I would go to the derm. If it was me personally I would oil it everyday and what not, but thats just me I'm know doctor xD
