Default UN-EVEN hair

SOOOOOOO, My hair is SO uneven its not even funny. Im about 9 1/2 months natural Will be 10 months on the 21st. The top part of my hair is noticably shorter than the bottom half when straightened. When in its natural state, I can tell a little that its un even. Im trying to wait and see if the top half will catch up with the bottom half, but if not, Im nto sure if I should just cut it so its all the same lenght? I kinda want to wait until my one yr to see what length my hair is. Any suggestions?

I say wait it out and don't cut ya precious locks. Lol. I am sure it will check up eventually. My bang area is like an inch/inch and a half shorter than the rest of my hair.

I'm dealing with the same thing, I want to cut my hair to even it out, but part of me holds hope that maybe the right side of my head with catch up to the left.

I have the same issue but I'm waiting to cut my hair.

I had a set back and had to cut the top of my hair (7 1/4 inches now).

The right side is 12 1/2 inches now but the left side is 11 inches, measuring from the top of the ear down.

It's just the nature of my hair, even before I went curly I knew my hair grew differently on each side.

I don't have any plans to cut my hair until the end of the year, cutting maybe to 10 inches all around, if the top grows that long.

I intentionally keep my hair uneven since the sections "hang" differently. The left side which is tighter is the longest and it also shrinks up the most. The top is the shortest because it is barely wavy with little to no shrinkage.

Thanks guys for your suggestions! I just got my ends trimmed, so I'm gonna wait it out and see if my hair catches up with the rest :-)

The back of my head, middle to the nape of my neck, grows the fastest. The sides are the second fastest (the right side grows slightly faster than the left), and the crown is the slowest. The crown also has the most shrinkage...there's a patch that is not as strong, and prone to breakage. I have to be very gentle.

There's no way for "catch up". I have to cut my hair in such a way, that minimizes the growth differences, if I want a chance at even hair. The back will always outrun the rest of my hair. ChicagoKinks mentioned how certain sections "hang differently", because of differences in curl pattern.

Right now, my hair is uneven, because I cut off all the heat damage (my hair still kinked up, but not as tight), and some sections had more loose kink than others. As it grows out, I will even it out...but I'm not reaching for the scissors till at least the end of this year.

My hair grows uneven too. I made the mistake of getting it cut even, but it just ended up growing back in uneven a month later. You really can't tell the difference since I wear my hair curly 100% of the time. So now I just cut off any split ends and keep it moving.

My hair naturally grows in a mullet/shag...and I'm talking Lionel Richie cicra All night long type curly/afro shag. I'm more concerned with the shape and how my hair looks than length, so I have no problem triming it into a shape that compliments my face and style.

You're lucky I wish my hair faster in the back then in the front. I'm the opposite the front of my hair grows way faster and the curls are looser in front to boot and the left side grows way faster then the right side. Stylists always have to do a lot of evening out on me.

My right side is the fast growing side. Years ago it was the opposite and I think it has to do with the way I sleep. I had my room set up differently then and now I sleep on the right.

I just try to switch up my sleeping style and to trim every so often to keep the shape.

This is pretty common I guess.. just leave it alone and style it in a way that makes it look even, and only trim when necessary.

Uneven growth is of the reasons I don't do braid outs. I was tempted to cut mine too but there's no point it will still grow out the same way

Mine grows in an almost "fro-hawk' style! The front and back are the longest and the loosest, the crown is the shortest and the least dense and the sides are about even. I have to pack the front and do a lot to get it to kink up enough that it doesn't look strange. All of the rest I just pack until it's even looking.

Mine grows like that too! I thank God for shrinkage cuz otherwise I would look just like Lionel!

Yea, I'm thinking the most important thing is to trim the split ends. Thanks for the advice!

My hair is uneven too due to a stupid "mistake". Oh well. No one has ever noticed.
