Default Qhemet AOHC VS BRBC

Anyone here with thick, kinky, dry hair purchased the heavy cream and only found it okay but then purchased the BRBC for the heck of it and found it phenomenal. Heavy cream is recommended for my type hair where as the burdock root for finer hair naturals. I didn't hate the heavy cream but it wasn't all that and had tendency to make my hair a tad too oil and my hair wasn't optimally soft. OMG I just tried the BRBC and it is non greasy and my hair is sooo soft! I'm floored. The only drawback is the softness provides for undefined twistout.

Anyone had the same experience? You prefer the BRBC to the Heavy Cream even though it seems like your hair would have preferred the opposite?

Yeah I have dry kinky 4b hair and I prefer the BRBC. The AOHC does moisturuze my hair, but it also leaves it a little greasy too. I also think the texture of the BRBC is easier to distribute throughout my hair.

I love the AOHC. To me it's like liquid gold. I have thick, naturally dry, coarse hair and the AOHC is perfect for me. I like the BRBC but it doesn't pack much of a punch for me. You gotta be careful not to overdo it with the application but even if I do overdo it I'm good because my hair will soak it up in a matter of time.

Ha ha, CocoT! I wonder if this is where low porosity, high porosity comes in. Are you porous. My hair is low porous maybe that's why my hair wasn't having the AOHC.

I agree with CocoT, I was stuck between the Burdock root cream and AOHC, but recently tried them both and I find that even though I have fine hair I have a lot of it and the BRBC seems to leave my hair soft in the beginning but later feels coated. When I use the AOHC my hair soft for days and like CocoT even if I do use too much my hair soaks it up..It seems like the AOHC is helping with growth as well. So far this is my staple moisturizer I strayed from it for awhile, but I always come back to it. lol!!

I think I'm normal to low porosity lol! I don't even know anymore, but I'm definitely not high porosity.

BRBC is okay in the summer, otherwise blah. Can't use it on dry hair either.

AOHC= epic fail.

On dry hair= hard and greasy
On wet hair= sticky and greasy...then dried hard.

my hair is a weirdo...

AOHC doesn't moisturize my hair and leaves my hair greasy -- regardless of how little I use -- if I use it as such. I quickly get buildup if I layer anything else on top. This makes sense because if I use an oil after my LI but before a styler, my hair reacts the same way. I've found this to work better as a sealant because it isn't as straight up oily/greasy as any oil I've tried to seal my hair with. I like putting it on my ends when I twist my hair.

BRBC does moisturize my hair, but not as well as my shea/aloe-based leave ins. I LOVE it as my nightly moisturizer though. It leaves my hair very soft and moisturized for the entire day. If I use it as my only leave in/moisturizer, my hair is meh all week.

I'm normal-high porosity with coarse strands of medium density.

interesting you ladies say this because i did notice that AOHC has been giving me a soul glo situation from time to time. I thought it was just me. Glad to know i'm not the only one who see's it that way. I will say that i have actually been having great success with moisture using the detangling ghee. I am not sure that is what it is for, but it works for me

I used to be like CocoT. AOHC was holy grail!!!! Then I tried the BRBC for the heck of it and was blown away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (also AOHC stopped working well for me--plus the aloe in it was making me itch me thinks)

I had been itchig to try the AOHC and when I did I wasn't blown away. It fan get greasy on you fast. But the BRB is the bees knees. This stuff is so creamy and I believe since it is more water based you don't get the oily after effects. I do agree though that the softness does make for a poofy twist out but in twists this stuff is liquid gold which is why my stash is being reserved for the winter.

I like the AOHC for buns or pulling my hair back and leaving it in twists for more than a day or two.

I like BRBC to re moisturize at night with a twist or braid out. I also like to use it with the soft honey gel.

I'm thinking since I started steaming my porosity is leaving super low and normalizing. My hair is craving more moisture now than it did in the winter and it's puzzling. Anyway, ITA with CocoT on the AOHC . When I initially used it a yr ago it was too greasy and heavy so I was using the BRBC more. Now, I decided to use it on a whim with my hair being so moisture needy lately and it's been awesome on all counts. Softness, defrizzing, moisture and manageability. I'm in love!

I thought that I was the only person in the world not tickled pink with the AOHC. Each time that Ive tried to use it my hair will be soft but tangled beyond belief, spiderwebish! Im tempted to try the BRBC but actually did a twistout with the CTDG and the Aethiopika that wasnt too bad.

I've tried both and the AOHC is far too heavy for me. I've learned that stylers with castor oil too high up on the ingredient list aren't for me. Doesn't moisturize well at all; just sits on top of my hair. The same thing with Oyin's Hair Dew. Castor oil too high on the list.

BRBC plues OHHB gives soft defined twistouts.

I definitely prefer the BRBC over the AOHC. The exact same thing happened to me. I bought the AOHC first because of my hair type, was underwhelmed, then purchased the BRBC. And I have coarse, thick, 4c hair. Go figure! Just goes to show that hair typing can be deceptive and sometimes you have to experiment.

Definitely love BRBC more than AOHC! BRBC in my climate is better in like winter and even summer! But I always usually mix the two got added protection but lately I've used the brbc more than the other. Still got a full jar of aohc. But idk cuz qb may be dethroned by oyin or if I decide to make my own products and save $$$$$$!

I prefer BRBC over AOHC. AOHC tends to sit on top and not moisturize...probably due to higher oil content.
