Celebrating Natural Hair
and yet we continue to use this man's system of hair typing........

I have never understood why we even care about what Andre Walker has to say...I never have...So what? He does Oprah's hair...WHATEV...If she actually wore her hair in its natural state, then maybe he'd be able to say something to me...but NO. Last I checked AW doesn't have some kinky hair so....BYE

What a jacka$$. If anything, kinky hair is the most versatile. It can be straightened, afro'd, curled, holds braids and twists better than any other texture, I mean seriously. How is permed hair giving you more styling options? How is straight hair more versatile than kinky hair? I can't
And he wants to talk versatility when all Oprah's permed hair, or any chemically straightened hair for the matter, does is sit on top of her head giving NO LIFE whatsoever. How is her hair more versatile? She wears it the same way all the time.
He's stupid and his products are garbage. I don't even need to try them to say that. I just look at the ingredients. Nothing but cones. What's healthy about slathering your hair in plastic?

If its not everyday I see people with straight hair trying to achieve curls twists and braids with hold. I remembered when I first heard about Kinky Curly products via youtube, almost every comment was "Does this work on relaxed/permed hair?"
Does Clorox Bleach work on your skin, b.i.tch?

Andre Walker hasn't changed. Why folks act surprised? Has anyone ever heard of or seen evidence that Andre Walker styles natural, kinky/coily hair? I haven't. He relaxes kinky hair, for a living.
He's like a million other stylists, who believe that naturally kinky/coily hair creates style limitations, and that's fine. I bet he couldn't even style my hair, in its natural state.

I've read some other strange comments from him in the past so I don't pay too much attention to what he has to say about styling and caring for natural hair.

i just saw this over on bglh. so naturally i went to his website to poke around. there is a q&a section and some of the answers he gave to people made me raise an eyebrow. he actually tells a woman who has a question about why the nape area of her hair won't grow that it sounds like it could be breakage and she should relax her hair more. relax breaking hair more? wheretheydothatat???

I can't even get too upset over that ignorant comment because I prove his ass wrong every single day. I don't "need" a relaxer. My hair is the most versatile of all. I can twist it, braid it, do twist/braid outs, updos, tuck and rolls or even straighten it if I wanted to. Straight hair doesn't give me half those options. He's hardly the only black stylist with that opinion either. F@ck him.

WTF?? Too funny. I never thought too much of Andre or his hair typing. I always equated his book deal to being Oprah's stylist not that he was a hair "expert."

Idiot. He needs a hair education.
I don't know why I used this. I just like it.
