Default Itchy scalp

I can't for the life of me figure out what's making me itch. It's something in my styling products or it could be my scalp getting dry. I style with CJ smoothing lotion and KCCC right now. Each time I spray my hair with water when it gets a little dry it starts itching. Do you think this is from the ingredients or from my scalp getting dry? Should I just use distilled water? I've thought about mixing some with a little oil for a spritz. I haven't used anything on my scalp lately since it's summer. Should I go back to oiling my scalp?

You didn't say what you're cleansing your scalp with. It is possible to get product buildup on your scalp. I'm not sure oiling is a solution. For me, most oils that are left on my scalp clog my pours and give me dandruff/itch. Sometimes I like to add a little teatree oil to my rinse out conditioner. Works wonders.

I use either daily fix or the Shea moisture coconut and hibiscus shampoo. Occasionally I also have kc come clean to clarify. I saw slot of build up when I co-washed today. I have to figure out a new routine I guess.

I would bet its something in your products, possibly the cj leave in. I loved curl queen but it made me itch like crazy. I still can't pinpoint the culprit ingredient, but now I know if I get bad itching it has to be an ingredient and not just dry scalp (this never occurred to me before reading threads on curl talk). I still use a little giovanni DLI on my scalp though even though it's summer. It hasn't had any negative effects (build up, greasiness, etc) and I don't wash for 4 or 5 days. Try switching out your leave in and see if it helps!

FYI- I styled with distilled water for a while and I really don't think it made a bit of difference.
